Re: Tankwa Karoo and Old Postal Route

I'll agree that one spot at the river, going up or down, might be tricky when towing without low range. The trailer isn't the problem, the lack of low range is. Going down might still be fine...

    Re: Bush Lapa general discussions

Another bit of useless info. I dropped off my BL at the workshop this morning for a service, plus fixing a minor issue on the side bed hatch alignment. Just got the call saying that all is done and...

    Re: Bush Lapa general discussions

I had a nice look at the Gravelroader this morning at the factory. Not my cup of tea, but I'll admit that it is quite an awesome caravan. Enormous bed at the back, pretty impressive bathroom setup,...

I think the thread went full circle ages ago already, so off topic seems to be new norm.

    Re: Getaway Skou Sandringham

Getaway show has been a time waster for a couple of years. I only go to the Kyknet one if I have comps and if I have nothing else to do. I simply don't get the point of paying to see stuff I can...

Re: Metalian placed 8th in South Africa

Exactly what I also said about the way that "competition" is held. It's pretty much an subjective owner vote, therefore more indicative of market infiltration. If they want an actual product...

Re: Camping coffee: share your preferred way

Jeez, it seems like I'm way below all of your camping standards. ;D

I simply use a kettle and the same Nescafe Gold/Jacobs or a little cappuccino sachet like at home...

Re: Bush Lapa : experience HIS beauty @

Just to ensure visibility - all Namibian borders are now effectively closed for at least 30 days, apart for Namibian residents returning home, SA citizens coming back into SA and for commercial...
  11. Re: Namibia border closed for leasure travel ??? Help needed

Effectively Vioolsdrift is now also closed due to the closure of Noordoewer (and all other Namibian ports of entry). It remains open for Nam citizens,to travel back to Namibia, SA citizens to return...

    Re: Is this it?

Spot on. The Defender isn't worse or better than a D5. It's just a different market.

What I like about the Defender is that it resembles just enough of the old Defender to not really be...

    Re: Is this it?

I suppose it is difficult to justify the spec models without seeing them first. I would take the most basic version although would like the basic tech gizmos like the 10" screen and Android auto etc...

    Re: Is this it?

If it has solid axles yes. I wouldn't want an IFS suspension setup with coils and no terrain response.

    Re: Is this it?

Where do I sign? I've been saying all along, price it slightly above the top of the range SUV market competitors (it is justifiably a better vehicle) and they'll be infiltrating the market like a...

    Re: Is this it?

Agreed, a Defender is hardly a collectors item; never mind a 5 year old model thereof. It has a cult status among the LR fraternity, but that doesn't necessarily make it collectible.

    Re: Is this it?

I would really love to have a Heritage edition as a retirement annuity. Heard of a couple of people that bought some and put them in storage.

I see a S1 on FB doing the rounds for R375k (even...

    Re: Is this it?

Those prices are already overly inflated due to the hype. That hype is long gone and probably the reason why people aren't buying those expensive Pumas and rather opting for R150k Td5s. Heritage...

    Re: Is this it?

A decent last model Defender will cost probably around R600k. Limited editions probably up to R800k, but there's always the vultures trying to justify them being worth more.

    Re: Everest - 3.2 or 2.2BiT

Concerning yes, but a mitigation might be to always tow in S mode (I assume the Everest has it). No gearbox wants to tow at low rpm and hunting between gears will in all probability result and...

    Re: Everest - 3.2 or 2.2BiT

I noticed some sites mentioning 2.0 and others 2.2, but yes, my bad, it's a 2.0.

I have driven the 3.2 and was quite amazed at the power and the on road comfort (compared to some other familiar...

    Re: Bushbaby 42L fridge/

I looked at one a while ago and even the display unit had some parts broken off. I'd rather wait for the Dometic cf50 to be at Takealot again for R4999.
