    Re: Is this it?

Maybe if they switch it off and on then it will go back to Comfort mode??

    Currently looks very uncomfortable.
  2. Poll: Re: Defender Puma vs Discovery 4 for Southern Africa Overlanding?

100% except for it being better offroad.;D

I think to someone that doesn't know how to drive a classic Defender offroad then yes it is. My partner used to battle to drive my Defender offroad but...

That articulation looks proper for IS set up ;D;D

Didn't take long for someone to ruin theirs.
  4. Poll: Re: Defender Puma vs Discovery 4 for Southern Africa Overlanding?

Disco 4 without doubt. Get latest year model you can afford. I had the V8 and it was beaut of a car.

A Defender will run circles around it offroad but thats it, for what your old man needs it...

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

I looked at those tanks as well for my 110DC but couldn't justify the cost.

I have the fender tank but had to mod it slightly so that my 285s still fit in wheel well so have lost maybe 10lts on it...

Re: Some Evoque questions - Dont tease me :/

We also have the 2.0 Ingenium, albeit in the Disco Sport and have had no issues. Performance wise it's light years ahead of the 2.2 but there are questions of longevity and complaints in the UK with...

    Re: Defender Puma Output shaft

No it won't but you doing work on the transfer box anyway so might as well upgrade. It did reduce the backlash on mine though.

The build quailty on the later LT230s was terrible.

    Re: Defender Puma Output shaft

Rather do the LT230 ATB, that's what I did on my 90. Stronger and you get another ATB.

Sums it up for me. I find the guys from TFL very fair on their take on it and even more so considering they have ordered one as well.

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

Unfortunate but it is the reality. Even worse when you ask them for parts for a 200tdi Discovery 1 :o

80% of the parts my Disco needed were sourced from Brit-car.

Not exactly a fair competition, or is it ? ::)

So I reckon the solution is to buy both Defenders:

    1) Buy a old Defender, fit with lockers and...

    Re: Is this it?

No its called a Defender to cash in on decades of heritage.:) The design philosophy is so far removed from what the original Defender was about.

    Re: Is this it?

Doubt that, noone rates the Disco 3 over the D2 except the people who have it and hope the next repair doesn't write it off. When referring to it being "hardcore" not performance.

    I'm all for...

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

Definitely a 130 in the pictures, the tow hitch is a dead giveaway.

Rear doors look like they were cut and sealed, can see where the hinges were. The box sits in the second "door' window opening.

    Re: Defender D240 or P400

After having a D4 V8 back in the day I would prefer the P400 as it has similar power to what that had.

But for overlanding I agree the diesel better suited. I'm still fascinated why they...

Defender Re: The Old Puma Chestnut

A car, like anything really, is worth as much as someone will pay for it.

That being said they don't have to sell it to you for retail, they could advertise it and sell it for 700k if they...

    Re: Is this it?

I might buy the 90 when it it is released and our Disco Sport runs out of maintenance plan.

But thats exactly it, I see it as a replacement for our Disco Sport and not my two orginal Defenders.

    Re: Is this it?

In the same breath you could argue that a 1.4 million Defender does not impress based on the fact that for a million less you can get a Puma and fit 2 Ashcroft lockers so it has 3 diff-locks as well...

    Re: Is this it?

From my understanding that one never had the rear locker. Land Rover should have made it standard considering the Defender is meant to be their off road icon.

Re: Rear Diff Lock Options for 2001 Defender

I have also read this somewhere. Detroit is a ### thing for a vehicle used on tar as well. Lekka for a farm vehicle though. Also I have heard of them eating side shafts.

Re: Rear Diff Lock Options for 2001 Defender

Go full selectable locker without doubt. ATBs are nice but even front and rear won't be as good as a full locker.

I have a feeling the ATBs will be better in sand but I haven't tested mine because...

Re: Rear Diff Lock Options for 2001 Defender

    Ashcroft no brainer.

I have their diff lock on my Defender 110, LT230 ATB in my Puma 90 and front and rear ATBs on my Disco 1 and have never had any issues with it.

I also have the ARB twin...
