MediaRelease: Re: Grid Tie Office Solar Setup

Thanks a lot for explaining. I did not pick up that the inverter has 4 inputs. Only saw in the specs the max input is 60V and 10.5A with no reference that you have 4 inputs to the panel.

    Thanks to...

    Re: 12v pressure pump

Also take care of the pressure. Some of them pump as high as 8 bar. Also the one I used got to a point where it did not switch off at a time I was not at the caravan and it burnt out. In my case I...

MediaRelease: Re: Grid Tie Office Solar Setup

Thanks for providing the quote details. The Micro inverter seems to be well priced and a low cost item. As we have seen before the installation we tend to not factor in is a big chunk.

    I notice...

    Re: 12v Power supply

Have you perhaps checked what the TRFR output voltage is?

Do you need the full 10A or can you get along with 5A?

MediaRelease: Re: Grid Tie Office Solar Setup

The Solis 4.6kW inverter cost only R11 000. It can accept 2 strings of 11A each. Panels can be as low as R1 500 per 300W.

It is perhaps fair for the 2 systems shown by Ellies but one need not put...
  6. Defender Re: 300Tdi Defender Fuel Line making Pffft Pfft Sound

I suggest you have the pressure coming from the tank tested while idling and while driving. That might be below specs and causing the loss of power.

    Re: Hercules 20 management system - XT140

Have you perhaps checked the battery fuse that it did not blow due to the higher current supplied to the 2 batteries. It will be the fuse with the thick wire on. Normally the last one if they are...

    Sticky: Re: Electrickery for camping

The marked fuse is perhaps meant for the LED lights (AUX) and if used for the fridge it would be safe to replace with a 10A. The power supply used in the DB/charger will be able to supply enough...

    Sticky: Re: Electrickery for camping

Just provide the actual position of the fuse. Is it between the WRND and the battery positive or between the positive and the lead that goes to the fridge?

As indicated rather use a 10A fuse as...

    Re: outdoor-fishing-rod-light

Not east to say as there are different models but could be 12-24W based on thye time that a 7Ah battery lasts on 1 charge.
  12. Re: Advice on 2,000w pure sine wave inverter for caravan

Some figures for different settings. As the OP already has 2x12V 102Ah batteries only the lighter plug type of lead/adoptor is required.

Now that we know the coffee machine is only 1050W this 12V Axpert about R3 000 cheaper than the Phoenix could also work well. For full time use I would also lean towards the Phoenix as a reliable...

Re: Leisure batteries: storage versus weight

Some real measurements ACDELCO SMF100 22kg, Royal 1150K 25kg, Raylite SMF100/101 27kg. Also an eye opener when I saw 2x Raylite SMF100 that gave a good 8 years service in a Sprinter Camper and...
  15. Re: Advice on 2,000w pure sine wave inverter for caravan

2000W will put a very high load on the 12V batteries. I would rather look at a 24V system.. Batteries would also last a lot longer. Have a look at the inverter supplier at Montana Traders that offers...

Re: CTek D to DC charger

Normally one would use about 16mm but because the WRND can only charge at 20A 4mm would be fine. NL solenoid would need 16mm minimum as the charge rate can be very high with a flat aux bat.

Nicad and NiMh use the same type of charger AFAIK. Li-Ion you need a charger that shuts down charging before the safety switch open the circuit.

    Re: Solar charging, how to?

In short the PWM switches on and off to provide an average voltage around the level you need to charge the battery. It wastes up to 30% of the energy if the panel has a higher voltage than the...

    Re: outdoor-fishing-rod-light

Just a point that confused me at 1st. The 500W is the equvalent power and the power actually used. A real 500W would not be able to run from a 12V 7Ah battery and these lights do for 8 plus hours.
