    Re: KB72 D-Teq 250 MOTOR (overhaul / replace)

This is why people normally recommend walking away when an engine rebuild is brought into the mix, problems problems endless problems. Not an easy job to get right first time and you have to be the...

Look on Gumtree, place a wanted ad if necessary or some places can still make one up new.

    Re: KB72 D-Teq 250 MOTOR (overhaul / replace)

I'd put the full 20k km on then, considering how they did the head gasket there may be more gremlins.

Re: Impressed with China Pure Sine Wave Inverter

How do you connect two of them together when you need to charge a bigger battery bank?
    I'm assuming in parallel.

    Re: Tar Removal Metallic paint

Factory paint on modern vehicles is tough stuff, only solvent I'd advise not using is acetone, anything else wiped on and straight off is fine.

Re: smart charger working under load

I wonder why they would design it like that, it's easy enough for the charger to run a quick charge state test when the power is reconnected and just start on the appropriate stage, whilst still...

RPiet seems to imply it does eventually reassess the charge state albeit not immediately when the power is reconnected.

I would imagine in some situations they take a chance on what they offer on trade-ins or cash deals, score an epic deal and then jack the price straight up to whatever the going market value is.

So it's confirmed that after power is cycled the PSA008 will carry on the cycle where it left off even that is a trickle charge and the battery is now depleted whereas the PSD008 will check the...

Re: Impressed with China Pure Sine Wave Inverter

They apparently don't reset when the power is cut, only if you break the connection to the battery which hobbles them a bit for this useage scenario. When power is restored they resume the last used...

Re: Impressed with China Pure Sine Wave Inverter

If they are modern(last 5-10yrs) then probably well under 5W when switched off.

How much was that battery? It's a nice capacity and form factor

    Re: Tar Removal Metallic paint

That's the stuff, works really well, albeit horribly over priced. Spanyard red engine cleaner, the solvent based one not water based, should work just as well and at less than a ⅓ of the price.

    Re: Decent vehicle battery brand?

The Sabat 630 is 36Ah and the Macht is 35Ah so not far off, that probably wasn't the issue.

    Re: Decent vehicle battery brand?

I returned the battery, no hassles with the return. Got a Sabat rather, well that was all they had and the last one was good. I spoke to the Willard rep and Macht is a Willard brand now.

    Re: Spring hose clamps rubbish?!

That could be the case but the pipe lip is well over the outlet flange so I can't see the length of the pipe being an issue. I think the roughness of the lip of the pipe is just wear and tear.

It was bought in Cape Town unfortunately which is where I'm headed to this weekend, should the Ah match the spec of the battery size or is that just a rough guideline?

    Re: Decent vehicle battery brand?

This is what the battery looks like, each cap has a small vent and no drain hole or pipe for the valley that the caps sit in, acid just fills up and splashes all over, nice.

    Seems having no drain...
