  1. Re: Idle Reset 2007 Prado 2.7 2TR-FE Gasoline Engine

After I changed the battery on my V6 the idle speed was too high for a day or so. ECU loses settings, took about 50 km and it was back to normal.
  2. Re: 2.0 Bi-Turbo 10-Speed auto teething problems

Considering it's a Ford, that is remarkable. ;-)

    Re: Michelin LTX AT2

Michelin bought BF Goodrich and Uniroyal back in 1990.
Yet Michelin tyres have very little in common with BF Goodrich.
I have never had a Michelin type that that was bad on wet tar or gave an...

Re: Has Toyota lost their marbles!??

    Someone paid R 30k for a 60 series Land Cruiser in 1983. I bought it for R 75k in 2005 and sold it for R105k in 2021.

    Re: Michelin LTX AT2

I had the AT2 on my Amarok. Very nice tyre. Great on tar and gravel. I have never had a bad Michelin tyre.
  7. Re: Buying second hand Prado is fsh important?

It depends on the gaps in the service history. I believe 1 missed service doesn’t even void Toyota’s warranty.

If services have been neglected or done by other than Toyota workshops, make sure...

  9. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

Do those 3.2 and 2.2 TDi engines give problems in other markets, like Australia, too?
Or are the engine problems more common here in Southern Africa?
  10. Re: Have you been fined for a light bar on your vehicle in Namibia?

Thank you Nys. This shows who does actually have experience in driving where Kudus are a factor and who doesn't (and therefore would have even less reason to fit a Kudu defying lightbar...) ;D

Ford & Mazda Re: 4x2 Capabilities

With your 4x2 Ranger you can do a lot where ground clearance is the main issue. As soon as grip becomes an issue, the 4x2 will rather quickly loose out compared to a 4x4 vehicle. The limits depend...

“We will be traveling alone” seems to hint at one vehicle, at least that’s how I would interpret it.

    Re: To fit a snorkel - Pro's vs Con's

Unless your vehicle's air intake is inside the engine bay, I can't see how a snorkel can provide cooler air.
Even the cleaner air argument might be a bit of a stretch really, depending on where and...

    Re: Covid and Namibia

I don’t think that is going to happen.
    1) the initial reports seem to hint at mild symptoms caused by the Omicron variant. So far it doesn’t seem to do much harm.
    2) seeing how it has spread out...
  15. Re: Emergency SOS device - does one REALLY need it?

The popular routes do have cell phone coverage. Since it is the OP's intention not to travel into remote areas, but stick to the main tourist attractions, a charged cell phone with sufficient credit...

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

My understanding is that there usually are signs of coolant residue around the pump before they fail. It usually doesn't come as a sudden, catastrophic failure.

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

Actually yes, some people do do that. I live at the coast and it is being done here. I wouldn't do it neither would I recommend it. But some kind of protection for the underbody does make sense.
  19. Re: Emergency SOS device - does one REALLY need it?

Generations of people have traveled through and lived in remote areas without any electronic gadgets. Hence, it is not a necessity.
Only you can decide whether or not it'll make sense to have a...

    Re: Buying Prado - advise

There are quite a few differences. The 120 diesel came with the KZTE engine.
The 120 V6 is the single VVT-i version with 176 kw.
The 150 diesel got the D4D motor, which should be a bit more...

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

I would say considering the current market & 2nd hand 4x4 prices, it is not a bad deal.
As to the water pump, the common recommendation is to replace the pump between 180k and 200k km. Unless it can...

Re: Elephant Bull Causes Havoc In Gonarezhou

Taking evasive action during a mock charge triggers a proper charge, specifically with younger bulls.
