  1. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

You only now have half the problem. You donít have the FR rails, so that wonít fail you...... [emoji848]
  2. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Remember, the track rails broke on two places as well....

    Your thoughts?
  3. Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Lets quickly ignore the fact that the roof broke and ask the following question: Wonder why the Front Runner rail broke?

Maybe due to the rail failing, it had some effect on the area on the...
  4. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

When I bought my FR, I think I can recall I spoke to a Dylan at FR that said that the roof rack can take 100kg. I don't have anything in writing though.

    Transfer of Ownership (vehicle)

Which Post Office in Port Elizabeth can one use to do transfer of ownership of a vehicle?
  9. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

If you look at the track, it rests on about 1m of roof length. Your surface area of contact is greater, compared to the foot print of the 4 feet. You are correct, the fastening detail is exactly the...
  10. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Ok, lets put it this way. If the glass donít crack on a vehicle from flexing, your roofrack and roof will be even better off.
  11. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Bodywork donít flex. Your windscreen would pop.

Re: Where to buy Namibian Hardwood?

The solution is, buy from a reputable company. Hoppie's Braai Wood https://www.hoppies.co.za/ is the only one I know of in the Eastern Cape...... Wood is treated, safe and well priced.

This picture reminds me of this video going the rounds.

  17. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

    Sounds like an awesome setup!
  18. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

This seems to be a better option than the FR.
  19. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

I am referring to other comments made that is off topic.
  20. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

I think this thread is losing its intention from the OP.
  21. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

    You talk about overlanding.

We had a presentation from our Jimny Club in PE, where they overlanded from Port Elizabeth to the UK...... in a Morris Minor!!!!

    The presentation was amazing!

Never experienced that. I think you might be confusing it with a Tough Dog. Spring rates are different.

Re: Jimny Shock Upgrade Advice Needed

I have a full Iron Man setup. I enjoy a 50mm lift, comfortable ride on gravel and canít wipe the smile off my wife when everyone else complain how bad the road was doing a trip together, and I did...
  24. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

I would maybe reconsider point 1. My reason is the following.

I followed every overland article from these guys (guy and girl traveled through Africa and called Team Tane) and about 19 650km....
  25. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

That always played on my mind (the quoted weight of 30kg) I load normally a gazebo of 17kg and 2x Ammo boxes of 10kg each. Together with the weight of the roofrack, that equates to 60kg. That was the...
  26. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Apologies, but please be more polite. Nowhere ĎI was trying to do what I wantí or being unpolite in my responses.

If so, kindly quote me. Otherwise, I would just classify you as someone who is...
  27. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

The 30kg claimed by Suzuki is because of the existing rails. When you have a Frontrunner, the weight can be increased.
  28. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

That is scary, that is the new design. I never seen it before on a new design.

Can you send the pics to Frontrunner to receive their feedback. Maybe their R&D team can look to improve that...
  29. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

This guy had a similar issue. But the initial 4 feet design, required a rivnut to be fitted. This was the result when he realised a crack.

  30. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

I recall the thread. Can you post a pic of your roofrack? As I recall, Frontrunner changed the design from being 4 feet to having 2 rails. That somewhat relieved the issue. This is how mine looks.

Just a follow up - I purchased wood from Hoppie's at cheaper rates than the fuel stations.
