Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

Ag darn it, that is frustrating.

But maybe a good sign that the new Prado is going to be well received. Remember the long waiting lists way back when the D4d Hilux and Fortuners came out.

    Re: Water Storgae for Camping

They are much of a muchness, but I think I prefer the plastic. The metal one's are Proquip, we don't have use for a spout for them so never bought one.

To honest I cannot remember a plastic...

    Re: Water Storgae for Camping

    This ^^^^

For us the the 20L plastic cans serve the additional purpose in that we put them in the sun to heat up our shower water when camping where there are no ablutions . Obviously it has to...

Re: Urgent. Key locked in GV.

Lol, yes it is entirely possible to lock your keys in the car with my hubby's C class Merc as well. There is a button on the remote that will only pop the boot open, but the doors stay locked. So...

Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

For the regulars to Sondela: which of the private ablution campsites are out of the way and have some shade?

Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

Correct, but still a small difference. Which the Prado's extra power and torque should be able to sort out?

Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

Prado: GVM is 2990 kg, 500 Nm.

Fortuner: GVM 2750 kg, 450 Nm.

I would not call the Prado 'much heavier'.

Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

Now that would work for me. Really wish we could get something like that in SA. I want the space and comfort of a Prado, but with a simple robust diesel engine that can be taken into darkest Africa...

    Re: 50ppm diesel availability.

Agreed Prof. We took an external Racor diesel filter, it helps a lot for particles, but I don't think it will solve the 50 ppm conundrum. For that a proper oil change and filter replacement is...

    Re: 50ppm diesel availability.

Last time I heard (probably 2years ago) 50 ppm was only available in Livingstone. Probably Lusaka as well.

Your options are: you either carry enough 50 ppm diesel, you fill up with what you get...

Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

What do you mean by 'he stubbornly refuses'? Firstly, it is illegal to speed up when you are being overtaken.

Secondly there are boxes who speed up when someone tries to overtake them, but they...

If a person wants to tow a...

Re: Any news on the 2.8 Prado?

I am sure the 180 will be great, just not sure if I have the patience to wait that long::) and I am afraid the 180 will be completely out of my price range.

I wonder if the 180 will also offer a...

Exactly and 99% of people who actually owned both vehicles will agree with you.

After our visit last year we said that stopping over at Camp Elephant for a few days of luxury in the middle of a rougher trip, is a great option.
  27. Re: Would you go gas or solar geyser in this scenario?
