    Piet. I checked the repair manual for the Series and it appears that the shims do fit at the bottom of the steering box. Seems that you have to put thread sealer on the bolts...

    The box is working reasonably well. There is a slight whine in 5th and if you touch the gear leaver whilst accelerating there is a rattle.. oh and the oil leak between the transfer and gearbox

    So after reading all of this my conclusion is that if you have a 4 x 4 you should reduce tyre pressure, use 4 x 4 and engage centre diff lock. Do your part to improve the road conditions

    Something you may look at. Use the one space for a water tank. Even if it is a gerry can that you mod with an outlet pipe that extends to the back door. Water "on tap" is always a luxury in the bush
