Re: The EPIC River Trip 2020

Myself and GD15 will unfortunately not be able to make this one anymore.

Re: The EPIC River Trip 2020

The driftwood available along the river has become less and less every year, and I think the local communities really don't like these "tourists" burning away a weeks firewood every evening.

    And...

    Re: Which snatch rope?

    Henk,
I never claimed to be an expert, and have no beef with Securetech, in fact, I think most of my kit is from Securetech.
I just shared my experience from actually doing recoveries.
    In my...

    Re: Which snatch rope?

You should know better than anyone here.

A flat snatch strap is tightly weaved and when used, is pulled very tight. This tightly pulled strap then needs a few hours to “relax” before it can be...

    Re: Lithium 444 first impressions?

If it is a LiPo battery as they state, it can be discharged to roughly 20% of charge.
So its 444w capacity is about 37 ah on a 12v batt.
the full battery is then about 41ah.
    No Idea why anyone...

    Re: Homebuilt overlander

Excellent result on a very complex build.
One comment. Depending on what you used to spray the wheels, it might be a good idea to replace the valves if it has not yet been done.

    Re: What size inverter?

You do find 12v hair dryers too, so less conversion losses, but they are not as efficient, so you will still end up with a flat battery.

    Re: Hennopspark Hill 49

That hill would be a solid 3 at best, but it can become very slippery and dangerous when wet. The Jimny does it quite easily. But I have seen a few people make a total hash of it, thinking that...

    Re: 12V to gate motor?

    Re: Is this it?

Seems to have a fake bonnet over the engine, and another fake bonnet on the roof to hide the “stepped roof” of the Disco shape
And some padding on the window sills to hide a design line.

    Re: NEW 2018 Suzuki Jimny

It seems as if it was designed to overcome everything with fully inflated tyres, I cannot wait to see where it goes with appropriately deflated wheels.

You could modify 4 steel rims and weld a flat sheet around the rim to level up the hollow section inside, then fit some agressive old tyre’s tread to the flat sheet for some grip.
