Re: Question to Toyota Hilux Owners

Partly true, yes. Single cabs can usually carry more. The Nissan Navara DC can do 1060kg, Triton DC 1050, Amarok DC 950, Ranger 950 to 1050 depending on the model and then the Hilux 855.

    Re: P Series "anomalies"

    1. Seems normal. My Toyota does the same, can't use any controls on the steering wheel while the camera is on. Probably a safety feature.

    Re: GD6 2.4 vs 2.8 fuel consumption.

Is that on the trip computer or calculated? My current Toyota is fairly accurate. The previous one was out by 3 km/L so on a tank it was out by 150 km. Hectic.

I think that believe comes from a time when manual gearboxes tended to strip the high gear due to labouring. In a manual car you are the brain, in an auto there is an electronic brain that will...

    Re: GD6 2.4 vs 2.8 fuel consumption.

I went back to a 2016 test of a 130 kW Fortuner Auto and compared it to a Feb 2021 test of a 150 kW Fortuner Auto by CAR magazine.

    Toyota claimed figure 2016: 7.6 L/100km
    Toyota claimed figure...

    Re: GD6 2.4 vs 2.8 fuel consumption.

You will also need to distinguish between the 130 kW and 150 kW 2.8. The 150 kW is heavier on juice by a fair amount.

  16. Re: Considering pulling the trigger on 2016 Pajero 3.2 LWB GLS

10 L/100km is actually the norm for that size of vehicle and tech. Prado's and the like will not do better and in most cases slightly worse.

    Towing 1.3T I also average 12.5 to 13 L/100km which I...
  17. Re: Considering pulling the trigger on 2016 Pajero 3.2 LWB GLS

I get around 8 km/L for city driving and 10 to 11 on the open road with a pre 2010 3.2 LWB. The 140 kW Pajero's are at least 1to 2 km/L lighter on fuel.

Never struggled with spares or places to...

    Re: New Cruiser accessories?

O, eks met jou. Wat ek bedoel is dat meeste van die gevalle waar daar onderstelle gebuig het, dit nie is as gevolg van swak ontwerp of airhelpers nie maar misbruik van die voertuig.

    Re: New Cruiser accessories?

Daar was al gebuigde Cruisers met airbags op hierdie forum. Ek reken 99.9% van die gebuigde onderstelle is eerder a.g v. oorlaai as enige iets anders.

I see you mention "aftermarket performance upgrades". Dont chip the diesel accept if you like holy pistons. Not a good idea. A petrol chip is probably fine but the gains are small on a NA petrol.

Although you say it's not the battery maybe it is. It will be strange if it drives there and then just die without any warning.
  33. Re: What are the 3 most reliable bakkie engines that will last the longest

Agree, I always say the only Toyota that's a bargain is a brand new one. Second hand you pay way too much for it.

    And I drive one myself.

Newer than 2016 good options are NP300 2.5 4x4 or Ranger 2.2. I see that you list a Ranger as a vehicle and on a trade another Ford is a good option.

Francois, I agree with you here.

I reckon the sweet spot for that kind of money is the 2014 to 2016 model years.
