    Re: New Fortuner / Hilux DAB Radio

    South Africa would use the DAB+ system, which was undergoing tests for a while. Could be the test phase is now completed, hence the silence.

    Re: KZ-TE VHF Radio mount

    This is a 250MHz antenna, but the VHF antenna can be mounted in the same position. Use a Zara60 trimmed to about 470mm.

    The thin steel whip you see behind this one is another antenna mounted on...

    Re: KZ-TE VHF Radio mount

    Although the pic I have here is of the Motorola GM350 Remote Mount faceplate (the one at the rear, not the front radio with '14' in the display), my SC 2700i has a Kenwood dashmount radio mounted in...

  7. Poll: Re: 1953 Colchester Student Mk1 6" gap bed - A restoration project

    Every time I see these panels I am reminded of the old Series IIA Land Rover that I once had! Paint the panels Army Green and I would be even more convinced they are related.

    Re: Show your Two Way radio and Arial setups

    We use these antennas in heavy industrial open-cast Mining equipment, they do not simply break. In fact, you would be hard pressed to actually destroy one through normal use.

    Re: Show your Two Way radio and Arial setups

    I think you meant to say the Aussie ones are UHF, so yes, they are much shorter than the VHF ones. The length of the whip is dependent upon the operating frequency of the radio. For VHF purposes, you...

    Re: Antique piano restoration

    Let's see now... you're restoring:

    * A Colchester Lathe
    * 100-year old Baby Grand Piano
    * A Quad 33 Pre
    * A Quad 303 Amp
    * A Pajero

    ...and you're building a water-reticulation system.
