Grand Cherokee Re: WJ 2.7 CRD Chiptuning ?

If you look after them, and have a tame mechanic, they are actually pretty decent.

    Re: Car Radio

You can normally load the software onto a micro sd card and it goes into the front of the radio.

I would call the seller and try get the antennae, he probably still has it and just...

Re: Jeep Cherokee 2.4 any good ?

    No.

EDIT: its probably fine. But still no.

EDIT EDIT: friend has one and hates the gearbox. So test drive, has a weird manual automatic gearbox which is not very smooth.

Discovery 4 Re: Discovery 4 tdv6 buying advice.

Then you have been offroad! :p

And, also more importantly, answers my question and explains your usage. So it helps with giving feedback to your post. Wow, Landy types seem nervous on the forum...

Discovery 4 Re: Discovery 4 tdv6 buying advice.

Why do you have a D3 or D4 if its never been off road?
  7. Re: Energy experts....your thoughts please on mobile workshop

So why not a small gennie? Would fuel costs not be less than the overall spend on the system?

This just seems a complicated way of doing things.

EDIT: just re-read your initial comment of no...
  8. Re: Energy experts....your thoughts please on mobile workshop

What is your expected usage pattern.

Stop for an hour, short job, drive for 30 min and repeat?

a semi-modern alternator will not be overworked easily. They basically output max rating at all...
  9. Re: Can I run AT at the back and normal in the front

Long story short. Buy 2 as you planned, fit one to the spare as you said. Hope you don't get a puncture and if you do, just use it to get you home and no further. It will not break the system with...
  10. Re: Can I run AT at the back and normal in the front

Most places offer credit. Just buy the right tyres once.
  11. Re: Software upgrade on the emissions - Grand Cherokee

OK - so its a custom tune to delete the sensors.

Well, the GDE tune I used to sell is these days USD700, so I wont say its out of the question.

I'd be interested to hear the whole story though.
  12. Re: Software upgrade on the emissions - Grand Cherokee

    why do you need this?
  13. Re: Second Opinion on suggested DC/DC Charger and Aux Battery

    Agreed go to 4x4Direct.

WRND DC to DC. R2200 or NL unit, but much more expensive. Don't mount the DC-DC in the engine bay as it gets too hot.

Decent AGM 10oah battery if it will fit. I can...

    Re: goodyear wrangler duratrac

Its a good all weather tyre. I don't think it has strong enough sidewalls for our conditions.

To me its an aggressively tread normal AT.

That being said, was the versions mentioned above the P...

Re: Solar system for off grid camping

Any time you use an inverter you will be using a LOT of your power reserves. So try not use any 220V if you can possibly.

2x 100W panels will be better from a practical point of view.

    How will...
  16. Re: What's it worth? Venter Bushbaby trailer lid, roofrack, and rear slide

perhaps have a look through here and see if you can find the new replacement prices.

Re: AC condenser Grand Cherokee CRD

It does - but normally only ever shows under UV light from what I understand.

I think the point here is don't assume its the air-con and the drive the Jeep causing further damage.

Re: AC condenser Grand Cherokee CRD

Is the fluid in your radiator tank still full?

If you want a decent aircon shop I can recommend IceBurg Aircons in Stikland.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee WK 2006 3.0 CRD

EGR is the death of most modern diesels. Fortunately mine has been disabled for 75 000km now.

Yes swirl flaps where a known issue with this engine, and often made worse with leaky air intake pipe...

    Re: Pylontech battery at 0'C.

    My interpretation;

It will charge anytime above 0 Degrees.

It will still discharge till minus 10. But not charge. This is probably ok as the solar wont kick in until it gets warmer anyways.

Grand Cherokee Re: WJ - 2 inch budget lift spacers

MikeS post reminded me that the Jeeps are all very sensitive to low voltage. So if your battery is more than two years old it might be worth replacing with a decent unit. Has fixed many a weird...

Grand Cherokee Re: WJ - 2 inch budget lift spacers

Personally I would not bother changing the rims unless you can get cheap ones somewhere - my previous experience has led me to believe this is very limited in SA.

    265/65/17's will work nicely and...

Grand Cherokee Re: WJ - 2 inch budget lift spacers

5 grand for spacers seems nuts. (sorry, didn't see it included shocks) Then its very good.

Firstly - post a photo of the Jeep so we can see what we working with ;D

    Then, what size tyres are...

Re: WRND DC to DC Charger

Seems a lot of confusion here. WRND is a 20amp charger from what I understand.

EDIT: I see you do correct that later on. Post some photo's of your wiring setup and we can maybe help figure out...

  30. Re: 2010 Cherokee 2.8 CRD replacement engine

Correct - only real Jeep is a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD ;D
  31. Re: 2010 Cherokee 2.8 CRD replacement engine

Yeah exactly - the vehicle isn't worth all that much.
  32. Re: 2010 Cherokee 2.8 CRD replacement engine

Yeah - I tend to agree.
  33. Re: 2010 Cherokee 2.8 CRD replacement engine

It seized after it was rebuilt?

Surely you take it back to the rebuilder and make it their problem?

Why did it have to be be rebuilt in the first place.

As Jelo says, they don't have the...
