Re: Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico

Very sad - It was an ICON and base for the SETI radio-telescope programme.:(
  2. Re: Permits for Coastal Driving & Fishing WIld Coast

Yes you DO need permits although at no cost - just hassle factor.
But without them you expose yourself to heavy fines from the "green scorpions".

See my by now ageing Wild Coast trip reports.

  4. Re: The "Snake" and other slow cooking methods thread

I refuse to use briquettes due to this issue.

Hard wood charcoal (from invader species) - yes.
Good wood, even better - although many will tell you not to use a wood fire in a weber (or similar...

Re: "Something" bit my daughter - advice please

Don't play around with allergic reactions to anything.

We have had a couple of very close encounters with SWAMBO due to such, needing emergency treatment.

In your case it does not seem to be an...

    Re: Richtersveld and Namakwa

    Me too.

And I know Stan has a yearning to get to that part of the country.
And I would REALLY love to go back there.

Problems are SWAMBO's medical situation and Isusu' age.

    Re: Cooling when Camping

Erica can also attest to this.
She suffers severely in hot conditions and makes use of this handy neck scarf even when at home and even during the night (We live in KZN !).

Re: KZN GTG Mlalazi/ Ongoye Forest 6-8 Nov 2020

That price is the going rate at the moment.
Not critical, but if available I will take over one or two six packs even if just to bring home on Sunday.

    No panic though.

Re: What do you feed your garden birds?

I don't think that we should in nature.
But in a city / urban environment maybe a case could be made.
We have messed up their habitat so maybe some whatever without compensation is justified ? >:D:p

Re: What do you feed your garden birds?
