    Re: 3.2 did engine gesoek

This is my personal observation and I know that these texts do not convey tone. My tone is purely friendly and I'm giving my opinion of this specific case.

I'm not sure why the cars reputation is...
  2. Re: 2011 Pajero 3 Door 3.2 DI-D GLS Gearbox

The gearbox is not sealed, but yes there is no dipstick on the model you are referring to. Oil changes are a must and the interval was 60k on the 2007-2010 Gen 4 (I think it was an Aisin box). The...

Re: New member in need of advice

Nope, the Paj Sport system is different. It can be driven as a full time 4wd (AWD) with an open center differential and variable speeds on the front and rear drive shafts. The Fortuner does not have...

Re: New member in need of advice

Good to hear that you took the time to drive all the options.

Both the Everest and Pajero Sport have an AWD option on their 4wd modes. The Everest is full-time 4wd while the Pajero sport can be...

Re: New member in need of advice

    Thanks Peter :)

Yea we always follow this procedure before any of the trips and take along quite a lot of the vital vehicle specific spares (things that we know can cause problems). He has not had...

Re: New member in need of advice

Agreed, I think both are better value for money than the Fortuner. The new facelift Pajero Sport was also launced this week so you should be able to get some stronger deals on the pre-facelift which...
  7. Re: HT vs AT for South-African conditions

    Hi,

If you like driving the odd gravel road and the likes then I say go for the A/T's. The kind of fuel penalty you are looking at will be minimal if you choose the correct tyre (look at their...

Re: New member in need of advice

Hi nice position to be in. There are so many fantastic places out to explore and in your price bracket it makes sense to go all the way and buy a 4x4 so that you may access those places should you...

    Eina, how did that happen?

There are a few guys around the country stripping them, I know of a guy here in CT, but there may be ones closer to PE. Jump on Facebook and ask there on the Mitsu...

    Re: Ranger tyres & Botswana

If it's dry your only real challenge in that area will be sand and these will be fine for that. The biggest risk is a sidewall puncture from hardwood in the sand tracks (typically used by people...
  15. Re: Continues to run couple seconds after shut-off: Diesel 2001 Pajero 5speed 3200 En

Yep, just pump it (press down on it). But if its soft in this case when trying to restart (not like your empty tank problem domkiki), then its probably one of the seals of the fuel pump that has seen...

  17. Re: Continues to run couple seconds after shut-off: Diesel 2001 Pajero 5speed 3200 En

I'm not going to contribute much because I don't know enough, but the glow plug light sometimes wont come on if the engine is at operating temp that's normal.

    Regarding the second non starting...
  18. Re: Is a tiny bulge on a new tyre acceptable?

Is it not just the impression from the manufacturing process? It looks a bit like a join point. Is it actually an indentation and not a bulge? I always notice these indents on tyres and as you say it...
  19. Re: Some more thinking... Some more of your thoughts please.

Agreed, I think if they dropped the price significantly with it being on its way out (surely its cheaper to make by now than its more modern stablemate the PS which has more tech), then we could have...
  20. Re: 2015 Pajero sport engine oil light, time taken to turn off

*edit: I personally would stick to 15W40 but I know very little about the intricacies of the oils (searching for sneaky pete) other than many Mitsu's out there with very high mileage running 15W40....

Re: What did you do to your Mitsu Today ?

Thanks for the feedback, glad the Paj is sorted and as you say it's best to take it to someone who knows the ins and outs of the brand :) . Those are all crucial items that Jacques took care of. Glad...
  23. Re: 2010 Dteq 300lx Auto doing 305 000km

    Hi,

The Isuzu guys will know best but I think there is a relatively common problem on the 3.0 where one of the pipes to the turbo pops off. Check all the piping leading to the turbo for cracks or...
  24. Re: 2001 Diesel Pajero Starter and Fire Up Speed (3.2 DiD 3200)

I'd say it is slightly slow, sounds like one extra swing in there so yes the starter may be a bit lazy, but I agree I don't think its an issue. I will also say that the motor sounds fantastic for...

From what you are saying it sounds like most of the skipped services were under the service plan stage. I think it was simply a matter of failure to stamp the book (some owners keep their books at...

  27. Re: Continues to run couple seconds after shut-off: Diesel 2001 Pajero 5speed 3200 En

If your intake is really dirty and causing the problem too this extent then that intake cleaner will do nothing.

  29. Re: Continues to run couple seconds after shut-off: Diesel 2001 Pajero 5speed 3200 En

Okay that eliminates two simple solutions. If it is carbon build up then yes it is in the intake manifold (more prevalent on the gen 4 common rail see here on a triton 4m41...

    Re: Pajero Suspension concern

My failing front left lower ball joint also did similar stuff. It would act up on hot days (I'm guessing the lubricant was like liquid and useless in the heat), it only really happened at slow speed...

    Re: Pajero Suspension concern

I think it is in reference to the underbody protection plates (skid plates)? They often make a clunking noise if one bolt is missing which is noticeable in the Paj because of the monocoque.
  34. Re: My first 4x4! Some advice needed please..

This is great advice if its a 2.8tdi. It will be exacerbated if the cooling system is compromised (mud on the radiator, dirt in the radiator, incorrect coolant) so make sure the first thing you check...

Re: Advice for a first time buyer

    Hi Chris,

    Welcome :)

I would be inclined to say Pajero or Duster for your purpose. The duster because it is undoubtedly capable, but at the low mileage you would be able to get one it should...
