    Richard I replaced the old inverter with a RING 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter as suggested by a well known 4x4 outfitter. Banked on the advice received with no additional homework done

    Thanks for all the feedback, I will check for a fuse but the interest in "fiddling around" is just too little;D

    I am not very sure whether it is a well known brand but will also make sure to check the fuse before getting rid of it. Thanks for the feedback so far!

    Inverter - repair or replace?

    I have a 1200 watt PEAK modified sine wave inverter which recently went up in smoke while swambo had her 1000 watt hair dryer plugged into it.
    My question is whether it can be repaired economically...

    Spot on, Problems of the past have been solved for a while already. My LC220 rims (17") with 2,5 ton axle on Baobab so far without problems but limited km though, Boskriek with same after 20 000km...

    whilst on the normal bad roads (gravel and potholed tar) I had my vehicle tires on 1.8 and my BL on 2.2
    In sandy areas and through the death acre we went to 1.1 all around.
