    FL2's need to be taken care of by someone that knows then inside and out - your run of the mill mechie or autolec might just stuff it up.

    High mileage half tonners maintenance are not cheap to maintain! Just spend a quick R5k on cv's last week and a few grand on suspension the week before, all on a Bantam...

    If it is possible, get the Colt to Naas le Roux at Hi-Q in George for a once over before your journey. He used to work for Merc and did lots of developmental work on the Colts.

    Ideal to used the Kzte gearbox and transfer but VERY hard to get as all the Lexus conversions use those.

    I'm pretty sure you can match the D4D gearbox(same as Kzte) to the SFA transfer.

    Anyone who know his way around the scanner can program the steering lock out of the ecu.

    Our car had the same issue, a quick visit to Walter and it was sorted!

    I had the contol arms refurbished with.new polyurethane bushes, new ball joints, tie rod ends and stabiliser links.

    This car now handles like a new one!

    Some Freelander 2's also suffer from the steering lock issue - But an Indy that knows his stuff sommer switch it off permanently with his computer.

    Please, DO NOT reuse the old resivoir! Inside there is a very fine mesh filter that is not servicable. The oil flow will be constrained and you might have do redo the whole steering system again!

    I know abour some steering rack issues but nit the frequent oil change.

    Change the resivoir bottle now with the recon reck since it has a built in mesh filter that blockes over time. Also, it uses...

    Does your 2012 FL2 have a manual gearbox? I really did not know that you could still get a manual box in 2012!

    I'll have to check but I think our FL2 is touching 270 000km.

    Unfortunately I was one of first to have gearbox issues. My fix cost R32k in total, but a similar exersice should cost not more than...
