    Have both 8 and 10mm helicoil kit sets. Had to repair threads on VW motors that have been abused. The kit comes with drill, thread cutting tap and coil inserts. Not rocket science to do.

    I would drill it to same depth and fit a helicoil into place. This give you a more solid base to turn a new M6 bolt into place. M2cw.
