Re: All L322 Owners Front Shocks only

Their products are rubbish, imported two sets from them in February 2020. All the shock top mounts used in both vehicles (Touareg’s) in this case already failed. Not even 5000 km done of which 200...

Re: Arnott Air Bellows on FFRR L322

Would be interesting how they work out for you. On the Touaregs the Arnott’s are terrible because their design does away with a dust boot over the bellow where it forms the rolling edge which causes...

    Re: Treg Owners

Congrats on the v6 tdi. Hope it’s a winner. Just something I picked up. Swapping the rims between your R5 and the V6 TDI will not work unfortunately, they have different PCD’s.
  5. Re: MediaRelease: Volkswagen’s Amarok Double Cab bakkie gets a power boost

This thread makes me feel good about putting another 20k into my Touareg to keep it running another year. Where do people find 900k for a DC bakkie!

Re: Fracking in NE Namibia & western Botswana

Would be sad if this happens. I know nothing about fracking, so for me it's an emotive response, and I respect the comments by those in the industry and the 'know' here that it can be done cleanly....

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

He also sells new ones for around 30% more. I have 2nd life ones, which is fine I think for running fridges and stuff for camping purposes.
  8. Re: Going LifePo4 and ditching the current charging system

The BMS on a Lifepo4 will protect the cells from abnormal over charge voltages (within reason), what it cannot mitigate is pulse charging for desulfurization cycles. You don’t want continuous float...

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

100%, but you are going to have to DIY the battery, that is the only ‘catch’.
  10. Re: Going LifePo4 and ditching the current charging system

Even if you don’t get the lifepo4 to 100% it really does not matter much. Not worth spending a fortune anyway just to get it the last few % full with a more specialized charger. You have so much...

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

They are extra little displays. Their percentage charge indication is hopelessly inaccurate on them. They are good for the voltage indication though, from which it’s fairly easy to deduct the...

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

Yes, good deal, then build boxes like I did and you have yourself a very lekker lifepo4 battery pack. Works superbly.

  13. Re: Going LifePo4 and ditching the current charging system

You can generally charge a Lifepo4 with the same charger as for your lead acid if this is done for occasional camping purposes. You just don’t want a pulse desulfurization type of charge cycle. The...

    Re: Best route to Graskop/Pilgrimsrest

I drive to Lydenburg often. Road is not so bad currently. I’d go via Dullstroom it’s nice and scenic too. You can make a stop in Dullstroom for breakfast or lunch.

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

Yes I have on the Touareg, but need to do a more thorough long term test still, i.e. a full charge cycle on a battery from empty to full. Charges at around 37 AH. Don't see any issues.

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

  20. Re: Touareg tyre pressures and wheel nut torque

I'm running 265/65/17 BFG KO2's AT's. 250 kpa front & 270 kpa rear for tar. Dirt roads I go to 170 kpa all round. Other off-road conditions lower if necessary.

Yes, I torque the wheels to the 180...

Must say, I also doubt the battery is the culprit, and if it was it would be very very obvious. I say this because whilst the Treg is running it will make up for a bad battery, unless the battery is...

Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

If that is correct, we will have camp sites with green grass at Kruger by the time they decide to open them again. Would really like to go in December.

Nope, and don’t think it’s worth the hassle unless you have a complete car available with the casa engine, in which case you may as well switch vehicles. Engine management is different, turbo is...

I guess the best is you check the actual part numbers at VW. I cannot imagine them being different. On air suspension models they are identical.
