  4. Re: Eskom Power Failure Strandfontein Campsite

What was your battery voltage and was battery on a charger. What is your low voltage setting on your fridge set to. Doing research I see some fridges can be set to cut off at a certain voltage.

Very nice, but making something exotic in design and paying a premium will end in tears for the user, because knife marks from cutting will destroy that nice board...
  13. Re: What type of car rims can I use on my trailer instead of ALKO 4 hole 13" rims?

Buy old VW beetle rims but you have to get the Centre hole machined bigger.

It may work out cheaper to visit an independent tyre place and get quote on rim and tyre combined.

  15. Re: Eskom's new proposal for homes with solar panels

So basically the customer is screwed. You pay for solar to cut your costs, escom mismanagement now wants to steal from you by claiming the sun belongs to them ie renting sunlight. Hahaha, bloody joke

  27. Re: Why would you need to upgrade your alternator if you use a DC to Dc charger?

OK thanks for clearing that up. So silly thinking to save the alternator. Add two gauges to read batteries with a manual switch connected to solinoid. Once main battery shows full or almost full...

  29. Re: Why would you need to upgrade your alternator if you use a DC to Dc charger?

  34. Re: Estimate of daily AMP draw for a NL 60L dual refrig. freezer

According to specs it draws average of 2.5 Amps. 5 amps max. So not an expert but also doing homework I have concluded. Ambient temp plays a part so don't leave in the sun, allow natural air flow...
  35. Re: Why would you need to upgrade your alternator if you use a DC to Dc charger?

I'm wondering if a cowling over alternator would give a better cooling effect ie diverting air around and through alternator.
