In that case, I think it will be adequate....;D;D
  2. Poll: Re: 1953 Colchester Student Mk1 6" gap bed - A restoration project

A bit of a "shut the door after the horse bolts" case, but I recommend A4 Metalset for sticking things together.
  3. Re: Please Help!!!! Recovering VIN number on rusted chassis

If you have any doubts, take only the chassis for testing, that way, if there is an issue, all you need is another chassis.

Interesting, HiTemp did my installation and it was super professional and no changes to price etc.

    A question if I may....

All the steel bits that you have polished to a nice, shiny finish are going to start rusting in short order...what is the plan to prevent that?

What primer are you going to use?

I recommend this... Plascon Epiwash Strontium Chromate Primer (AW255)

    Re: Wire tying tool

The advantage of this is that the tool and a roll of wire give you almost infinite clamping ability.

It's not that simple, unfortunately. The Immobilisation is via the BeCM with a signal being sent to the ECU to allow startup.

The diagonal marks you can see on the one photo are called cross hatching and are from the manufacture/last rebuild of the engine, and comforting to see.

Not being able to turn the engine with the...

  21. Discovery 1 Re: The resurrection and further adventures of Fugard

Re: Non landrover replacement engines in Td5

I dropped into a site by accident a while ago and the opinion there was that the engines are all the same, structurally, with turbos added to spec.
I don't know how true it is, though.

  27. Re: Any panel beaters out there who can help with a Pantone colour equivalent?

Ah, OK, then you may need to get the colour spectrally analysed to get the RGB or CYMK ratios to be able to match to the corresponding Pantone number.
  28. Poll: Re: 1953 Colchester Student Mk1 6" gap bed - A restoration project

What about having it waterjet or laser cut?
Waterjet will give you down to 0.001" tolerance if the machine is capable and well set up.
  29. Poll: Re: 1953 Colchester Student Mk1 6" gap bed - A restoration project

Roger the Bodger probably read about a property of some greases called Thixotropy and bunged some random, unsuitable grease in it.
  30. Re: Any panel beaters out there who can help with a Pantone colour equivalent?

You will likely not get a direct Pantone match for your vehicle.
The vehicle manufacturers use different coding for their colours, and it should be on the data plate in the door pillar or under the...

    Re: TD5 blowby?

I didn't explain myself well, Paul. Blowby is exactly as you describe it, but the OP's question is about cooling system pressurising.

    Re: TD5 blowby?

I think I have been at cross purposes in this thread, jelo.
I read blowby as pressurisation of the crankcase, but it is actually pressurising the cooling system, which points to the head gasket as...

  35. Re: Annealing copper washers , lessons not learned.

Not necessarily, when I fitted my new Td5 head, I annealed the new copper seals I bought for the injectors, just to be sure they would deform and create a good conforming seal, but if they come off...
