So the alarm is drawing power from battery only? not from AC? Actually a good idea. Only possible problem (depending on your alarm system) you might be reminded constantly that there is no AC.

We try to drive the pass twice a year or so and it has definitely gotten much worse.

In the condition the pass is now I think it will provide a lot of fun in the rain. Only scary part is the part past the caves from Magalies side where the road has a bit of a slope to the side.
