    Botswana again but better

    Hi all,
It took some time to write the report and translate it but now I've finished it. Hope you will enjoy reading. And for better and more pics please visit my Flickr account as indicated at the...

Re: Guys, PLEASE!!! ALWAYS 4x4 on gravel

We saw a car on its top in Etosha, SWAMBO sent a pic to her family and her sister did not sleep a night because she thought it was ours. SWAMBO didn't mention that it wasn't. Afterwards I drove a...

Re: Kasane to Maun, April 2021

    Hi,
We did a similar trip two years ago with a LandCruiser 4.2 diesel with a 120 l tank. Filled up in Muchenje.
We did extra day game drives in Savuti, in Khwai, took the long way from Xakanaxa to...

    Re: Adventure bikes in BNP

Well with a Fat Bike with about 0.5 atm or less tyre press you can handle the sand. But indeed all the rest of the close encounters would be a problem ....
  6. Re: Pula? ATM? Cash vs. Credit Cards? Currency questions?

You can change $$ or in Pula in change-booths in Maun. When we wanted to leave Maun with some Pula there was a major power failure in center and residential areas so no ATM's working. And when the...

    Re: Another Medical Insurance ?

I think it is good. We had their service advised by our tour-organiser from Maun (Dutch expats) and - by chance - visited their headquarters because that is also the cafe frequented by an old friend...

Re: Very bad experience with NDM

As I remember Nakoma asked advice from the forum in a rather fragmented and detailed way.
I am somewhat surprised that around that same time in August NDM was on the job of getting reservations...

Re: Checking interest - Would anyone camp here:

It's also in the area of Tsodilo Hills so that may be an extra incentive.
  11. Re: Driving through Botswana to Namibia at night, good idea?

Agree with the previous writers. What I did not read yet are horses on the road but there are (or were, now dead, once on the Trans Kalahari Hwy). Lots of vultures around them.

    And quite another...

Re: Cape Town to Victoria Falls - December

My 10 cents: your day trips are very long. And I, among others, would advise strongly against driving in the dark in Bots.

    Re: Chobe accommodation

Last year we were at Chobe Bush Camp, which is located next to Senyati. It was very nice with very good food (double portions for our son or then 25). It is a subsidiary of the Waterlily Lodge in...

Re: In need of advices for Botswana 21 day trip

No. It's so a busy tourist area and so inconvenient to take your own vehicle that you won't need it for a day or so.

Re: In need of advices for Botswana 21 day trip

We were twice in Vic Falls. In 2015 we left our rental vehicle at a campsite in Kasane and went to Zam site with a taxibus from the Zam side of the Kazungula ferry to a stopover in Maramba River...

Re: Community camp recommendation: Kwai area

What a pity this report about Magotho. A good year back we were there and it was splendid. No tour operators, no double bookings, no hassles from other campers, no noise, no generators, really nice....
  18. Re: How to book a mokoro trip at Mboma boat station?

Or try Xakanaxa. There are 2 boat stations there.

Maybe no mokoro but on the roof of an alu motorboat you get a much better view.

Re: Botswana not how it used to be..

We were in Moremi in 2015 and again in 2018 with some more time. For us it's a long flight and expensive car hire. But it was worth all. What you experience depends on what you expect. The first time...

    Re: Route Chobe/Moremi

Kasane to Savuti is ok after a morning cruise.
The roads however are very hard after Kachikau. Deep sand and bumps in every direction (multi axis rolling). Max 20 km/h.

    Re: Route Chobe/Moremi

Since you insist so much ..

Option 1.1 via Mudumu seems to ambitious to me. You have the border crossing (10 min. to 30 min or so depending on traffic) and the road from Ngoma Bridge to Kasane is...

Re: Advice where to stay Maun or Moremi

Mboma and Ngepi are miles and days apart.
A river boat cruise is great grom Ngepi and a lagoon cruise can be done from Mboma or Xakanaxa (my experience).

Ngepi has some nice boat trips on the Kavango and bird walks.
A boat trip in Moremi is another experience. Not better but different.

Re: Advice where to stay Maun or Moremi

Do an afternoon sunset boat trip in Kasane on the Chobe, e.g. from the Water Lily Lodge starting at 1500 or 1600. Next day via Chobe river front to Savuti (wouldn't skip river front). End in Savuti...

Why avoid buying Pula? Card paymend can be down (yesterday in a hotel in Germany or a year ago in Maun).

Re: Help in Day Planning at Moremi and Savuti

Yes this is as I suggested. Exploring Khwai river is on the North side (outside Moremi) but there are possibilities on the other side too.
Near Xakanaxa you can also visit Paradise Pools.

Hi, I would skip Bodumatau on July 18. Just do it on July 19 to 3rd Bridge and or Xakanaxa. You may also skip 3rd Bridge on the way to Khwai. It will be a bit in a rush, as I understand your\'re...

Re: A help to travel to Botswana
