    Re: Trailer Brake System

A trailer braking system can be a bastard.

    NOTHING must be OK.

Do it all by the book. And it starts with the slack on the shoes.
Then the freeplay on the cable.
    That hitch must engage at...

Re: Radiator motor on a switch ?

I haven't gone through the whole thread, but as far as I know those are variable speed fans.
Never the less. I have done a VW Golf lookalike system, more than I can count. Put a fan switch in you...

    Re: 2.4gd6 hilux manual problems

Laugh at me if you want to, but try 5% Uniglide FRC in that box. Plenty of evidence of how well it works.

Re: 200 VX Cruiser Power steering pump

First just add some Uniglide FRC. If that doesn't work, then work on replacing it.

It is something that has always fascinated me. Why does the steering hydraulics not have a filter?

    Re: Polyurethane bushes

I haven't got molds yet. But if I have the parts, I can just develop a mold from that.
  8. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

    I keep repeating myself.

The BS that the manufacturers need to hang on an engine is criminal.

Add proper filtration and no the manufacturer does not have your well being at heart. He does have...

Re: Looking for a bolt extractor

Don't go the "eeze out" route. Rather look at the Rigid tool. Much better concept.

You can also drill a hole and use a TORX tool.

  17. Re: Technical skill required to become an overlander?

This is regularly overlooked. The flatbed can very often not get to you. That is why I built my rig, the way I did. (This applies to plenty places in SADC. Roads are tracks and not roads. Moz, Bots,...
  18. Re: Technical skills required to become an overlander?

Get yourself a well stocked toolbox and keep it handy. Either for yourself, you ravel companions, or a knowledgeable guy that passes.
  19. Re: Technical skill required to become an overlander?

On any of these, start with good old common sense.

That same common sense should tell you that you need to speak to knowledgeable people, and that is where you started. Good on you.

    Re: Stripped Bolt Removal ?

The idea is to get that drill centre. So I make a guide in the lathe. Then machine it for that specific size. Then centre drill it.

    Re: Stripped Bolt Removal ?

I found that the bolt that goes through, has no real support. It only hangs on that thickness of the material of the hitch. So once you have it out, talk to somebody to strengthen it from the inside...

I have a very simple way.

    Onions

Re: Atos ignition to push button

The alternative is to leave the barrel in place and just ad some trick switches. 3 way for the off-acc-on. Then a push button for start. But under the dash.

Re: Atos ignition to push button

  28. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

  33. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

If you followed the conversation, you would have read that I found paraffin in Zim and in Zam.

    Enjoy your Ford.
  34. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

I always carry some 2stroke with me. As soon as I smell the paraffin, I add some 2stroke.
  35. Re: Second Engine Replacement Required for Ford Ranger less than 3 years?

Follow the conversation. There is no paraffin in the truck stops.

The filter takes out the grit. The grit kills the injector and in turn kills the piston.

But I am done repeating myself.
