    Re: Alternator Operation

On my Colt it works as you described, charges at 14.2 - 14.5 after start and for some distance, thereafter it drops to 13.8, this is without any other battery or fridge.
    Have you monitored the...

Re: Brand name monitoring vs old school?

    No.
What is the range of EGT values deemed 'normal' for your vehicle?
What is seen as a 'high' value?
How long can you keep it at the 'high' level?
What do you do if you are on holiday and you...

Re: Brand name monitoring vs old school?

Madman sells an "EGT only" monitor as well, cheaper than the complete monitoring system.
And then, if you do monitor EGT, how are you going to use those values you see? What are you going to do when...

    See picture:
pin 87A is normally closed, thus no power on pin 86 implies pin 30 and 87A is connected, with power on pin 86 then pin 30 and 87 is connected.
DRL is suppose to be on during day when...

Re: Colt 2.8 tdi heat gauge problems

    I don't know.
I only know people who changed downpipe and exhaust together and they report a noticible drop in EGT's when they did that.
That is the reason for asking, do you monitor EGT? And if so...

Alan Black for diesel pump and injectors, he is in Springs - don't know how far that is from you.
Did you use antifreeze as well.
Did you also change the downpipe with the exhaust change?

    - cobald blue
    - turkey red, then you can call it "Nano Rubia"
    - imperial red, then it is "Nano Napoleon"
    - mellow yellow,...

I drive mine the same - now on 230xxx km. Town driving (work, school, home, shops) gives me 8.5km/l (driving like my grand dad), highway depends on conditions but in general I get 9.5km/l with 4...

Re: Colt 2.8 tdi heat gauge problems

Depending on age and/or odo the waterpump vanes might be worn down and coolant circulation suffers, or blockage in radiator.
Also injectors might overfuel a bit so look at getting them tested,...
