Victron, Axpert, .... - which inverter brand

With load shedding once more on-the-go I really need to do something about back-up power at home.
Victron products look good and seem to be premium quality, but expensive.
    Axpert inverters with...

    Re: Jurgens XCape

    I saw something similar.
The awning was flimsy and needs poles and guy-ropes to stabilise it.

    Re: Alternator Operation

    Yup, you're right - mine's a 2008 model - 'dumb' alternator.
The new alternator I fitted has the same connections, is not ECU controlled but is 14.2V instead of 13.8V, not a Smart Alternator setup....

    Re: Fortuner Cruise Control

AFAIK there are no slip rings.
There’s a spiral cable and these have been the subject of two recalls in the past.
I suggest you go to a dealer and ask about the recall.
    Had mine done - 20...

Defender Re: Defender Raspberry Pi Project

With new emission regulations energy savings take all forms such as smart alternators and regenerative braking.
The latter generate huge spikes when operating, even in small vehicles.

    Re: Alternator Operation

On mine the battery charge voltage does not drop to below 14,2V at any stage.
I have monitored it without the caravan - again, the charge voltage never drops below 14,2V.
I must add though this has...

    Alternator Operation

    Advice and comment please.

The alternator on my vehicle packed up recently (Denso).

    Reviving and old thread.

At 235 000km - a first failure - alternator (Denso) packed up - in Botswana in the middle of nowhere.

    Fortuner Re: 2012 Fortuner d4d - 200,000km - now what?

    My Fortuner is 2008 3.0 D4d and has done 235 000km.
Of those km many have been off road, corrugations, low range, hot & dusty.

I have not done any mods except front bumper and Power Brake brake...

Maybe you have one too and the problem could be there.

    Thanks for the information.
I'll talk to the others and if they're interested I'll revert.
I'll also have to see if our dates work out, so let's see.
    It would be great.

We're planning to go straight up to the junction with the A3 close to Nata.
