    My Main chassis rails are rusted esp below cab seat area , either end of gearbox cross-member ... I have a bolt-on gearbox crossmember, the drooping one !

    I would think that if the battery +/or alternator +/or starter died in an old Series 3 Diesel
    one could probly get it started (with the crank if necessary) and run without electrics as they even...

    buy the Isuzu DMax 250 Standard Base Model :
    Direct injection, 8 valve / no common rail
    and evidently only mild turbo assist
    etc ...
