    Re: Road Conditions

Three reasons to take the R71 via Magoebaskloof, its 20km shorter, the road conditions is better and its more scenic ;D

R71 will be no problem for your towing combo.

  9. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

Agree, but foldable panels weighs only 9kg/200w and flexible panels even less, so there are options available.

I just checked, the 100w flexible panel is 1.6 kg.

Re: Wild camping: wat is dit?

My take on the different camping types.

Glamping/Resort camping - Green lawn, ablutions, 220v, shops, entertainment.

Off Grid camping - No electricity, usually a toilet, shower and fire pit.

  13. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

I have two sets of 200w foldable solar panels. One for the vehicle and one for the trailer.

The system works really well ;D
  14. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

I would make the solar panel removeable. That gives you the option to park the trailer in the shade and put the solar panel in the sun.

a Trailer in full sun becomes a hot box/oven!
  15. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

That is how my setup is connected.
  16. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

16mm cable is overkill in a DC-DC setup but I had the cable so I used it, instead of going out and buying 10mm (or 4mm as recommended) ;D
  17. Re: Charging 2nd battery in vehicle as well as battery in trailer

I've got two 16mm cables running from the vehicle's battery, one to the back of the Jeep and the other one to nose-cone of the trailer.

Each is connected to a WRND DC-DC charger with build in...

The section down Magoebaskloof is less than 5km, if taken with care it should not be a problem.
