    Starts fine runs better and now serviceable.

    See if the core did not wear through somewhere and ended up arching to ground and therefore over current the circuit.
    However if that happened a fuse should have blown unless you have larger fuses...

    I still have the old grey box and run an dc to dc Ctek on it as I could never get the voltage as high as with the dc to dc.

    Without the EGT probe the simple answer is No. the Manufacturer however does use a best effort mix to see rpm vs TPS vs Speed to determine gear selection.

    Always best to see EGT for yourself if...
