Has anyone managed to disable the EGR system. I see its vacuum actuated. On my Fortuner it was an easy block, not the case on the Cap!
Any advise?

I fixed the alignment on my Companion myself. All depends on the year model you have, if the tow can be set or not. Measure the inside of the rim front and back distance between the two wheels. The...
That is normal for the auto 4x4 FT. Mine gave exactly the same, and it was chipped. The only way to get away from the heavy consumption is to sell it.
Ok I am not sure I understand this correctly, by "hard start" do you mean it struggles to turn over? Or it struggles to start, turning over just fine.
If its turning over just fine and not starting...
What rubbish! It is a mechanical pump driven by the crank and pressure is controlled by the two valves on the common rail. Who ever told you this should get a kick in the nuts.
So after some quick start spray, it was running? and now the fuel pump gets the blame?
Get another mechanic to have a look. A fuel pump works or it doesn't.
Het jy die diesel filter housing se O ring ook vervang? Daai is n klein bliksem as hy nie mooi seel nie...lek nie uit nie maar lek lug in as dit oornag staan.
We got exactly the same when doing stop/start short trip (2km) town driving. That old school auto gearbox is an energy consumer of note. I knocked the CAT out, disabled the EGR, had the injectors...
In my opjnion these are the most hassle free options. Nothing bulk charges (80%-90%) a battery as fast as an alternator! A deep cycle needs 14.5v to get to 100% - will this bother you seeing that...
If you want a softer ride, get different rated coil springs (90Hz or lower). No decent shock will give a soft ride in a Fortuner ESPECIALLY unladen.
The OEM shocks drives soft cause they are so...
Plenty of options, and as Fluffy said it depends on what you want.
My opinion: get two Phocos 20Amp solar controllers, one for the bakkie and one for the Companion. Wire them in on the NL...
With my Flexopower panels I found that they will give voltage in heavy overcast, but with very low amps (mili amps) coming through. Surely the WRND would need a certain amp threshold to start?
Not bad Watt wise, still need 3x 105Amp batteries to make ice though, plus solar panels dedicated to charge those batteries which makes it an expensive bush exercise.
SnoMaster has a 12 Volt 15Kg ice maker, it is not advertised on the website but has been available since Aug. Uses 8Amp an hour though...so quite an expensive exercise to make ice in the bush
I had similar issue on a Corsa DTi. Got a guy in who specialised in these things. He used a reverse thread tap to get the glow plug out.
Good luck, it's a real female dog!
They all 220v. A 12v will cost you similar as a fridge.
Ek het n NL 90 in my Companion.
Edit: sien post#182...

I can seriously recommend them. I also just replaced the rear.
I insisted on standard length coils only. In my opinion, one fit shocks for their purpose, not to have a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Edit: they brilliant coils!
Sorry to hear this. I never experienced what you are describing . I sold the FT a month ago still running fine with the Gas Magnums. BUT, I did have Mikem rear coils!!! The standard coils are of...
Tentco verkoop draad knippe, kan buig maar breek nie weer nie.
I have a right side headlight available, excellent condition. PM me for more info.
That is normal. No matter how you adjust your driving, the losses through the torque convertor will win every time. I sold mine and bought a DSG VW bus.
Hilux was/is sold in Europe, and the FT is a clone.... so if they delete it on the 'Lux, the FT does not have it.

There is a cable you have to fit to the relay box behind the glove box. Ask the stealers for it. Or search here on the forum it has been disussed in length before.
Correction: it is lower in energy density, less BTU'S. That is why the older engines get bad consumption figures. And be carefull of believing the source you quoted... they tend to sugar coat lies...
Because it works properly. Thin film Mono crystaline vs poly crystaline. I go for 3 weeks without a hiccup using only 2x 79W flex panels. Yes they are expensive, but so is replacing the contents in...

Removing the sulphur increases the cetane value (ignition speed) the faster the ignition the more complete the combustion with more soot. Lower cetane has slower less complete combustion with less...
The lower the ppm digit the faster the ignition takes place, also contains less energy during the bang and generates more soot. The lubrication argument is not an issue anymore that's why its more...
Flopower/ Propump works the same as the Shureflow on the inside.
