Maybe consider cutting out Guvalala and have an extra day and night in Ngweshla? One full day in the area isn't enough IMO. The drive from Nqweshla to Deteema (via Hwange town and Sinamatella) is...
Turnkey Locksmiths in Diep River may be able to help: 021 712 2737
I had great service from Charles at Lesedi Motors a few years back (also suspension problem on my Disco 3). Not sure if he's still there but worth a try. They're in Kwena Rd (off Segkoma Rd). Tracks...
Excellent report and entertainment...I think sharing a braai and a bottle with you would be a lot of fun! ;D
Great video with some excellent photos included. The scene of your breakfast at Ngweshla brought back some very happy memories of the picnic site!
Thanks Gustav. We didn't do the Robins-Deteema road but Deteema to Sinamatella was fine...as long as you don't do what I did and take the Salt Pan loop! ;D
I can't help with Sinamatella camping...
Twin Landy in Retreat (Philip or Paul) are really helpful and probably able to assist: tel:+27 21 701 4922
Thanks for the correction Dave.
Thank you Ronald. Enjoy your trip...it's well worth going there!
An excellent report and fantastic photos. Thanks for taking the trouble to post it!.
Thank you Jayocee. It's a Common Redshank.
From what I can remember Conservation fees were $8 each/day and vehicle fees $10/5 days (I paid $20 for the 7 nights there).
Facilities at Deteema are a bit run down and certainly not as good as at Ngweshla. It's clean and looked after as best as possible but Zimparks need to spend some money on maintenance. A toilet seat...
All too soon our time at Ngweshla had come to an end and it was time to move on to Deteema for our last two nights in Hwange.
First stop was Main Camp. We'd heard on our way in to Hwange that...
Thank you. One of my favourites as well.:)
As Tron said in his comment earlier, you don't have to travel too far from the picnic site on your game drives. The furthest we drove was to Kennedy Pan and a pan near Somalisa. There are various...
No intrusion at all Tron...2 great photos of a beautiful animal!
You certainly were lucky with the sightings you've had there. We thoroughly enjoyed Nqweshla and had some nice sightings but...
Nice vantage point there for the Lions imgreg!
The price we paid was also $172/night so no change in 2018.
We paid $172/day for 6 pax Peter so no change from the figure stated by imgreg in his post. Suprising to see that there hasn't been an increase since 2016! When we paid the exchange rate was...
Thank you philth.
A few more photos from Ngweshla and surrounds. More of the report to follow tomorrow.
Our 5 nights at Ngweshla were fantastic. For those that might not know, it's a public picnic spot but allows exclusive camping for parties of up to 12 people (minimum of 6 or at least payment for...
High praise indeed! Thank you Stan.
Thanks Ortelius. Less writing and more photos from now on if I can get away with it! :)
It took us about 5 hours to get to Nata from Kubu. As said previously, the track is quite rough and slow going but sadly very little to see along the way. We filled our tanks and bought more drinking...
The border crossing at Martins Drift was quick and without any hassle. We filled up with diesel at Serowe before driving through to Kubu Island. This was our first visit to Kubu and I must confess to...
Okay...so Kubu Island should really be posted in the Botswana section of this forum but we were only there for 2 nights on our way up to Zim and since most people seem to go through Botswana to get...
We did the reverse trip from Molopo Lodge to Bosobogolo in 2012 with about 2 hours waiting for friends in Tsabong and another hour 10km from Mabua gate unhitching a broken trailer and transferring...
Thanks for your response. I was worried that being a smaller border post they might not have the facilities needed to process the visa.
Is it safe to asume that UK citizens can obtain a visa to enter Zimbabwe at the Pandamatenga border post?
I'll be travelling from Rustenburg to Martins Drift at the end of September. What are road conditions like on the R510? I'm wondering if I should rather go the long way around via N1 and N11 if the...
There's a very good LR dealership in Upington. I used them on a trip to Kgalagadi 2 years ago and had great service.
