    Re: 12v Inverter recommendation

    OK, let’s rephrase - 1kW, 12v, a long time, and easily portable doesn’t compute.

Re: Not grid tied, solar when the sun shines

I think in a case like this the batteries should be set to never supply the load unless there is a power failure.

Their primary function is to make the job of the Inverter easy during glitches.

Thoughts - despite what the meter says - is it now working properly.

And WHY all of a sudden.

You previously said it had given up it's life.

Sticky: Re: Kirisun PT260 Licence-Free UHF Portable Radios

Without the software, you are doomed.

Cable is standard Kenwood K cable. Uses common USB FTDI converter and mini jack plugs.

Same cable you buy at Outdoor Warehouse for the Zartek.

Here is your starter. - The CTEK 250S is going to help you fast charge just about any battery. Most certainly faster and better than with no CTEK 250S.

    Now get yourself either.

Re: Not grid tied, solar when the sun shines

Agree 1000%. An analogy would be using a windpump to water your fields without a reservoir. As the wind waxes and wanes the water pressure and flow rate will be all over the place. (In an inverter...

Is there still a problem in Cape Town if you are not grid tied. The proposed system is essentially a solar assisted UPS.

Rather than raw nerve, it is more a case of staying on topic. This thread is about Lead Crystal batteries and the 2nd life topic is about Lithium.

I'm not going to get into a debate about this as it is rather complicated.

All I said was, be aware, they are second life batteries. Once aware people can make their own decisions.

Re: RIP – 150AH Lead Crystal

Just be aware that is a second life battery.

Nothing wrong, still good value, just don’t design it into a system that cycles daily.
  29. Re: Solar and Alternator Charge at the same time

Yep, that’s why I said looking for trouble for no reason. Exactly what will happen depends on a heap of unknowns, for no gain.
  30. Re: Solar and Alternator Charge at the same time

What are you trying to achieve. There is no point in th connection being there when the car is running.

Where are you going to connect your normal loads to.
  31. Re: Are these surface mount USB outlets available in South Africa yet?

Just buy it from Amazon. You will probably have it before a South African company and courtier wakes up.

And the price, including the courier is very good.
  32. Re: Are these surface mount USB outlets available in South Africa yet?

4x4direct.co.za have a huge range, as does many other 4x4 shops, battery shops, etc.

Even Takealot should yield a dozen or so.

Yes and no. You can, but I wouldn’t. It’s just asking for trouble with no advantage gained.
