This depends on what you are needing.

General 4x4 accessories or something custom?

Freelander II Re: Freelander 2 – buying tips

My comments above. The FL2 is probably the most reliable Landy ever made. I had the 2011 and it was awesome.

Edit: Just checked out the vehicle in the link. It's the SE which is fine. Doesn't have...

    Re: Input on tough MTs

Just make sure to not get an old batch and deflate accordingly.. otherwise bye bye lugs on first bit of power and rocky situation. I'll try these again, one day...
  4. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

Relatively easy. Just follow the pipes up from the gearbox and about half way down the aluminium section there is a plastic bracket that must be secured. Also just check for any play in the pipes.

  5. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

Yeah, didn't get any faults at first. Just a slip out of gear then back in. Next morning wouldn't change to 4th gear. Then gearbox fault and basically limp mode.
  6. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

    Indeed a valid point.
  7. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

I've already spoken to them and I'm taking the vehicle straight from ZF (hopefully later today or first thing tomorrow) to LR Hillcrest so they can re-fit the cooler pipe correctly AND check...
  8. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

    LR did the engine.
    ZF doing the gearbox
  9. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

Maybe more cost effective but I'd still rather have a new box overall...
  10. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

Fried is an understatement. Rebuild is so far quoted as R46k.
  11. Discovery 4 Re: Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

Actually, no, it doesn't... would be helpful though that's for sure!!!

  14. Discovery 4 Watch out for poor workmanship - Engine Rebuilds

So, last month on my way to Nelspruit, gearbox died. Had it towed back to Durban to ZF services who confirmed the gearbox burnt out. So much so they had to damage the casing to get the internals out....

Get some diagnostics done to identify the issue.

Could be, air shock, compressor, valve block, sensor, etc. or any number of things.

    Re: Freelander 2 EGR

You can make the plate yourself, or do a remap which negates the need for a plate. Just need the template.

I have a plate, but it's in my car which is at ZF services which is in Durban. :p

    Will...

You seem to keep missing my point... it was tested in the Moab desert first. Now the track testing which i presume is for safety.

    Re: Is this it?

Yes, i'm not saying there isn't. But, many cars are tested on many circuits, tracks, etc. so why is this such an issue?

Or do you like the way a Defender feels at 120km/h going around a bend?

To be fair, they did that all in the beginning first at Moab, etc. and now they are doing the road testing. What's the big deal?

Have you heard of any replaced cranks going snap again or is the new sub assembly putting that issue to rest now?

Re: Landrover disco 3 crankshaft failure

I'm with Jelo here also. Don't rebuild. Get new sub assembly and move on. That's what should have happened in the first place.

Also, never heard of a LR indy of repute out that way.
