    I'm no expert but believe the dirt/gunk and the tiny air bubbles are not suppose to be there.
    Hopefully someone that knows the older diesel technology will be along soon.

    I believe a heatgun or blow torch would get the paint off but you will still have the heat transfer issue that will cause the panels to warp. A small angle grinder with sand paper perhaps.

    I cant argue from a lab test point of view but a diesel engine exhaust doesn't...

    There's no need for a stainless steel exhaust on a diesel vehicle. A mild steel system will never rust through since there is no water in the exhaust system due to the combustion process.
