    Re: Fronius Inverters

Pretty much my thinking. The grid tied would be set to not back feed, but that is never perfect. I was thinking about a sacrificial load like a 100W lamp or heating element that is always connected...

    I'm working on it. >:D.

OK - using a simple mains activated switch over contactor.

    Op's Normal -
Grid Tie inverter generates power from PV and Syncs to mains. We now feed this to the Axpert...

Your a bit buggered on that China part. To the best of my knowledge ALL or nearly all Inverter are made in China.

    Either -

Re: How long will fridge run on dual battery

Yes there is a formula. Unfortunately itís not a simple formula.

Itís complex. So complex it will make a seasoned Nuclear physicists eyes water if you try and model all the parameters and...

Re: PV higher this year than 2019

Just remember. Peak is not all that important. By having more PV you are generating more energy during the "low" times. So the total is then greater.

Re: Question on a Victron Multiplus

I don’t know about this Victron, but in general it would be quite normal to declare a battery 100% at some point of applied voltage and current draw.

On a large bank, declaring the battery at 100%...

    Re: 1000W induction cooker

Hi, what is missing is, HOW MUCH WORK is being done in that hour.

Put another way. How much water would the solid plate bring to the boil in an hour vs the Snappy Chef.

    Re: 1000W induction cooker

Therein lies the rub. All the energy HAS to be almost 100% transferred into the cooking pot in an induction heater. It cant escape to the air like a radiating appliance such as a hot element does.

    Unfortunately, that's impossible.

Power cant disappear into thin air, nor can it be sucked from ones thumb.

Re: Induction plate not running off inverter

One of the problems with induction stoves and inverters is possible "mutual interference" at a conductive level. In fact this goes for any complex load, especially a high power, high frequency...

Are you sure. The power meter can still be reading derived average power from a bang bang controller, a very popular technique.

Re: Comparing PV 2019 to 2020

Re: Heat pump and off grid solar

If we are looking at say a realistic COP of 3. That gives us about 7000/3 = 2.3 kWh

  17. Re: 75A breaker for Mecer Inverter - is it necessary?

Re: 2nd Deep Cycle 105 ah Battery in Trailer?

At a minimum it will at...

Your comment on cold spells is interesting. Colder will give you higher PV Voltage, resulting in higher Current and Power.

Significantly so. Itís the missing 30% that MPPT's promise to recover.
