    Re: Bush Lapa mods

The 265/65/17 is only a 3.6% increase in radius from the 245/75/15. Very little difference.

You'll find both here. If you read closely you'll see the differing label on the towbar. Right arrow to change between pics.

Re: Northern Namibia and Caprivi July 2017

    Hi Erich

My gut feel is that between Madisa and Purros you are going to be very pushed for time. This is a long stretch to cover with only one stop. Seems like you need to gain a day somewhere....

    Re: leaf spring mounting reinforcement

Agreed. Or across compressive stress lines as is the case here. A sudden change in cross sectional area leads to high concentrations of stress and inevitably is where fatigue rears its ugly head.

What they are saying is that by welding across the bottom of the beam (along the flange) you are potentially weakening the beam because this is the area which is most stressed when the beam bends...

Re: Please help pick my solar panels..

Correct, they are. You are going to have to stick to the '12v' panels. They go up to around 155w.

Re: Please help pick my solar panels..

Ian,hi, 120W is a toy. Rather go Kobus' route. The panel weighs 20-22kg, hardly a premium.
Make the insulation work but don't compromise on W's.

    Re: Tow balls kill

The stress at which this cut tow ball would snap is around 250MPa.

The calculated combined stress is around 279MPa. Wasn't given a fair chance being cut. NB, this is based on a 2.5T snatch load....
