Re: What Vehicle do I consider

So here is my advice based on what I have seen on my travels, as you request.

There might well be a problem with LR's autoboxes, maybe they're not the toughest out there?

    Jap autos on 20 plus...

Re: Would I be crazy to drive to Rwanda now?

    Nice channel!

Yes I think it would be little crazy, for all the reasons Stan mentioned. Parks and campsites might be close as well, you might be limited as to what you see and experience. I would...

Re: Driving an automatic: Any general advice?

I don't know if you could call it a pearl of wisdom but when I first drove an auto I had to adjust to the lack of engine braking.

If you are driving downhill you can switch from D to 2 for some...

  7. Re: A current report on the difficulties of driving the length of Mozambique.

    Good article.

Mozambique is indeed crumbling. Those like Zoneout who have travelled the length of it will possibly testify as to how hard it is for a centralized government based in the far south...

Re: Ranger 3.2 engine failures in UK

Anecdotally you hear that they don't last that long compared to jap trucks like hardbodies, hiluxes and isuzus.

The previous model with the 2.5 diesel lasted longer.

But I have never owned one...

Re: New Engine: 90 Prado KZ-TE

Interesting, some 90s Prado definitely came out with the 1KD. I have seen them. Even some late Japanese spec Hilux Surfs were fitted with it.

Check the 90s Prado section on Wikipedia:

    Brilliant.

That guy is a real bakkie whisperer!

It's from the nineties (golden age for durable cars), it' s an Isuzu, it mostly does tar, always serviced: perfect storm.

Re: Toyota Prado 3.4 VX Engine life?
