    Re: Cylinder head temperature

Boiling is not a function of only temperature, pressure also plays a part, hence the 1.1 bar cap NOT resulting in boiling at 110 C.

In the case of a pressurised system, the pressure goes up and...

  3. Re: I can't sleep so I thought: What about fitting RR P38 Air suspension in a D2?

I can't guarantee that I will follow the maths, but the idea, in and of itself, is definitely challenging.

Re: What have you done with your Discovery today?

I don't know if mine were original, but I sweated to get the bolts loose on mine.
Didn't lose much skin, but definitely a lot of sweat and the Profanisaurus was frequently updated.

Defender Re: leaking rear main seal

I would advise you first clean the entire engine and gearbox as well as you can, from the cylinder head down and as well as you can in all the corners and crannies. Use a squirt gun with paraffin and...

It won't SOLVE lawlessness, but it will very likely be a part of the re implementation of Law and Order if it were ever to be attempted.

Series I Re: Series 1 Full restoration (5 year plan)

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the required length off Gary and courier it up to you rather than paying someone to do that turning work?

Have a look here for parts, too. Aftermarket, but apparently good quality.

Series I Re: Series 1 Full restoration (5 year plan)

Surely the 2 locating bolts at the top will determine how far it sticks out the bottom?

There's a bloke in the Cape who has gaskets, but you WILL pay.
Alternatively, get from Aus via their equivalent of MIDAS/Masterparts.

What parts do you need? I can maybe get you small items from France, but you will have to wait for them as I work out of SA and will get them from colleagues.

Re: Solar tubes and no water input.

From what I understand, the tubes will be fine as they are simply a transfer of heat device, but I would turn off the element of the geyser to be safe as that won't know the water is off and will...

  27. Re: Discovery 2 V8 vs. TD5: The fuel consumption issue..

You said that you filled it each time to the EXACT same level each time, my question is how can that matter?

First off, you aren't refueling from the same level every time, unless you run it dry. ...

    Re: Franschoek ripp off

Franschoek has an overinflated opinion of it's actual worth that is fueled by it's purported status as "a place to be".

    Discovery 1 Re: V8 Reliability

    Sorry, I wasn't clearer.
The V8 tends to wear it's camshafts out, so whip the tappet covers off, and the spark plugs to make it easier to turn the engine over, then turn the engine looking at each...

Discovery 2: Re: Hawkeye, Nanocom or others?

No, it is model tied via software downloads, but not to VIN.
I believe the Hawkeyes are VIN tied.

I bought mine as a D2+Td5 and then added GEMS+THOR+P38.
When you add different models, you also...
