  1. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

I see a few different versions of sidewall for the Renegade. I would like something at least as aggressive as the KL, with the Trepador being the ultimate>:D. Loved being able to shove that sidewall...
  2. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

I run 15" rims. My spares are already not the same as my running wheels in width and no tyres on them at the moment.. I am struggling to find a matching 6 piece set of rims for my rig. Although, I...
  3. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

Don't know whats going on, but I see Errols does not list the 35's anymore.. I also looked at them for my Sani. I got prices from Maxxis direct. Kinda a subsidized at cost deal on special import for...
  4. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

Wow, they are not cheap R4248 a tyre. Last I checked for my Sani, the KL71s would have been R3800. But now I see they don't list my size anymore. Only go up to 33's.
  5. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

Must say those Grabbers look good.
  6. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

It's the PT thats the problem, and that time you need it, and they are laying in your garage 300km away. Now you are stuffed/stuck.

Some pics of one my sites a few years back. When it started...
  7. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

So true about the "ready to go anywhere". It just gives you that little more confidence to just bash it in anywhere, and the tyres aren't an issue. I got myself an auto locker imported in 2007...
  8. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

Hey, when your wife tells you that they are too small, and that the van looks out of proportion, you gotta listen>:D. The 33's are road tyres, and I need MT's. My wife however does not realise that...
  9. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

The KL71 got mad with the price. My 35s for the Hardbody now R3800 per tyre.
  10. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

I originally put my MT's on because they were having a sale on those tyres, and at R1050 fitted and balanced, I did not care what they were. But within a year, they had paid for themselves over and...
  11. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

I went form 245's Firestone ATX's to 31" Kuhmo KL71 directional tyres. I know they ar enot so cheap anymore. Noise I expected to be more, but it was not that bad. Road holding was way better than the...

Progress update for those still following.

I think those are at 1.8bar. Vehicle been standing there for over 18 months now.

Difficult for me to really comment on handling performance because I only put them on after a 7" lift on a SFA...

    Re: 8x15 inch rims

7J with 10.5 rubber is not all that bad. On my Hardbody/Sani, I run 33x12.5x15 on 8J rims. Some guys say they actually don't debead as easy as when running wider rims. I have not had any offroad...

Re: Sidestep the dual battery system

The big thing for me is the "redundancy" of the setup. Firstly, 120Ah is a damn side more than the normal 70Ah. Now put 2 of them back to back, and 240Ah will go a long way to keeping trackers and...

Henri, I'm also leaning your way. I have 3 of those exact batteries on my solar setup in my house, to just run a 12v circuit with lights in every room in the house. I seldom use eskom for lights in...

    Re: Bfreesani's forum SFA projek

Eish, I was looking for something that I can zip down to the local parts store for, in any town, big or small. What other vehicles also use this setup. As nice as the Defender setup is, I don't want...

    Re: Nissan Patrol rear springs

Did not measure the height, sorry. Just checked the diameter of both to see if they would fit the bucket. 180mm on both of them. Patrol spring is 40mm longer and a lot heavier. Way more difficult to...

    Re: Bfreesani's forum SFA projek

Sunday I really wanted to do something on the Sani, but the wind was howling most the day. I messed around a bit with brake lines on the rear diff, and eventually found the previous failed attempts...
  30. Re: Hand throttle for diesel drive by wire vehicles

Hence my comment that these drive by wire systems present a unique cut off oppertunity which our old manual systems did not. I investigated a type of cable clamp which would release as soon as you...
  31. Re: Hand throttle for diesel drive by wire vehicles

Not really a cruise control, my hand throttle only gives me half foot throttle ( could be less), that only gives me about 80km/h on a flat run, with up to 130 on down hills. I tried it as a cruise...
