    Oil cooler looks clean and no signs of corrosion. Thinking maybe just go for upgraded type.

    I see the Workshop Manual calls for a lot of bolts to be replaced with new....

    Would it be OK to go from 2-Hole gasket (1.2mm) to 1-Hole gasket (1.27mm)?

    Piston protrusion measures 0.452 to 0.457 so it is on limit between 2-Hole and 1-Hole gasket.

    Its 18P engine, so steel dowels. Although not sure if they were replaced or re-used on last repair, so will replace to be on safe side.

    The normal thermostats are beige/clear in colour. The low temp one is grey. opens from 82C.

    Now is your chance to replace all the coolant hoses and fit a PUMA thermostat. Running around 6 Deg C cooler on my TD5 with the PUMA thermostat.

    Check the pipe just above. Could be the culprit.
    It has a small O-ring on the pipe just ahead of the nut. (When removed make sure it is not stuck inthe hole)
    The O-ring goes hard and could leak....

    The TD5 does go quite well once you out the blocks. Most of the time the guys get away before you do, but with the auto you catch...
