Ford & Mazda Re: New Ranger

    Hi Kevonius,

A colleague has recently purchased the 2.0 Wildtrak 4x4 - magnificent interior and tech but I am still not convinced about these engines - as you say, the 3.2 is tried and tested.

  7. Re: Discovery 2 V8 vs. TD5: The fuel consumption issue..

    @biltong

I track every fuel up with Fuelio, not a drop has gone in without record.

Over the last 3,000 odd kms we've gotten 12.24 l/100kms - I'd say an almost even mix of town / open road.

Re: Discovery 2 - Rear Diff Failure

Jelo, I could feel backlash but thought it was from the cracking rear "doughnut" which was going to be serviced next week.

No idea backlash actually came from the diff.

    Any advice on how to...

Discovery 2 - Rear Diff Failure

    Hi guys,

Odds not looking great, 2 out of 3 trips in this car have ended on a flatbed :-[

This last episode saw us trying a very mild sand incline to show the Mrs how the traction control...

Defender Re: Buying a defender in 2019

    Agree with what Jelo said...

I went through the Puma process recently, at 6 foot 2 and fairly broad shoulders, I could not fit and had to have window open for my elbow to rest somewhere.

I have no idea on capabilities of a standard Frontier, or parts availability etc. so my advice is probably irrelevant.

Re: Warn Winch - Not Spooling Out

    Thanks all.

Tidied up the cable which was frayed at the end, and managed to get it back into the lug which I then recrimped.

Also opened up the casing, greased gears etc - running beautifully...

Re: Warn Winch - Not Spooling Out

Warn Winch - Not Spooling Out

    Hi all,

Re: Ranger Wildtrak - Horrific Resale Value?

Ya it's not a vehicle or a market issue, it's a Ford issue - why would anyone buy 2nd hand when these deals are out there?

Just shows the monster mark ups if they have that much room to play ???
  28. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

    Hi jorgyl,

Directly underneath diesel filter, has a green marking on the pipe I think.

Re: Ranger Wildtrak - Horrific Resale Value?

Very lucky customer that, I would hate to have that fight with Ford as they have already said it's not their issue.

Was it this pipe highlighted in yellow?
  31. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

    Hi Albert,

Fortunately not, or would have been catastrophic - was still leaking out for a minute or so after turning vehicle off.
  32. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

Yes thanks Jelo, definitely will - was thinking bicycle tube.
  33. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

Think it was definitely one of the braided hoses that caused this.

Pipe arrived yesterday afternoon, should have vehicle back today.

Pipe was surprisingly cheap, R380 from Ford, surely they...
  34. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

Thanks all, I agree with the above.

I will contact Ford SA, anyone got a decent contact that I should use?

I'll also take a better pic when at my indie, tow truck coming at 11.
  35. Re: Ford Ranger - Another Coolant Pipe Problem

This is my view too Ernest, however he says the chaffing would have occurred in the last 2000kms - how could I ever prove them wrong?
