    Re: Caravan Electrical Laws

    Re: Caravan Electrical Laws

This has long been a major concern of mine and why I am VERY VERY anti 220V AC inverters attached tp batteries in caravans, trailers and overlanding vehicles.

The inverter lands up "Floating" and...

Re: Solar Charge Controller for Boat

    Victron's roots are in boating.

A lot of their technical data is still in nautical terms, and some of the horrible boating conventions carried over to the land.

    Re: solar panel to sell

Stick with what you got and fine tune the mechanics of how you deploy and store them.

Depending on what you are doing and how they are wired you may get away with only deploying 2 of the panels at...

Re: Veiwing a car in Durban

It might help to mention what car.

Pointless to ask me to check out a Fortuner or a Patrol.

If on the other hand it is a Range Rover P38 or RRS then I am your man.

You posted while I was typing.

I would rather buy a secondhand Solarworld than a No-name brand for the same price.

    Re: solar panel to sell

R6.50/watt is only on larger 72 cell 300 Watt class panels in bulk, not little 50W camping toys..

However, having said that, a 30 second google reveals a whole bunch of dealers selling 50W panels...

    Scalpel, brave heart, elbow grease.

All with a generous helping of skill, manual dexterity and patience.

But how does he get it right to be biased against every car manufacturer.

    Or maybe that’s the point.???

    Re: Solar Experts please help

DO NOT just add that extra panel, either in series or parallel. Series will result in overvoltage and parallel will result in over current.

    Re: Solar connectors

Even with the correct (expensive) tool it is a hit and miss affair.

So I would HIGHLY recommend buying a few spare inserts.

    Re: Range Rover 3.9L 1990

    Hi,

The Viscous lock I am talking about is in the "transfer case / centre diff"

Your 1981 probably has similar, if not identical diffs to the 1990 in this thread.

No it is in 4WD all the time. ie It drives all 4 wheels and has three diffs. One for each axle and one separating front and rear.

The viscous kicks in when it detects slip between the front and...

Actually one of the more important fuel related aspects, at least to me, is range. Nothing more disturbing than continually have to plan around fuel stops and carry fuel in cans.

In fact I RECOMMEND you do that.
