  1. Re: Optimal solar panel for vehicle in long-term storage?

Yes I suggest you Google what the self discharge of about 280Ah lead acid will be. This is the 200Ah aux bat plus the car main battery. I just gave an estimated value.

Also bear in mind a 5W...

Dankie vir hierdie uiteensetting van Santam. Wel dit moet 'n bargain vir die firma wees as mens 30jr neem voor jy 1 eis vir elke voertuig ingesit het op grond van jou geskiedenis.

Re: 220V Compressor not working at home

I will not bother with a new cap. Take it back for a refund/replacement. Item not working as intended.
  4. Re: Optimal solar panel for vehicle in long-term storage?

Why I mentioned 30W as enough is you can get 24Wx4hrs=96Wh per day to go into your batteries. That will allow about 60Wh nett to go into the batteries after the max of 36Wh of self discharge per day....

Re: Clip on tent pole LED lights

Old fashioned broom clip and frosted cover with LEDs inside works well for us.

Re: Coulomb meter or 2 x Ah meters

Although as stated it's easier to use the basic volts reading to give a SOC for lead acid one can still get an idea of the SOC of Lithium. I found with my small Lithuim set working on 12V one can use...

Re: DC Geyser element+ Hybrid inverter

Yes you can use the caps on the PTC element. In short the titanium cells used will just increase in ohm value when they reach a high temp to limit current and heat to prevent it from burning out like...
  11. Re: Optimal solar panel for vehicle in long-term storage?

I would use a 30W with a controller to ensure it does not overcharge.
The car and aux battery could self discharge about 2Ah per day. A 5W in sun might not even charge the loss of the 2 batteries...

Re: Coulomb meter or 2 x Ah meters

I would say 2 will work but you actually need only 1. Once the battery is fully charged you can discharge it with the power meter connected you can get the reading in Ah for a full discharge. Adjust...

Re: DC Geyser element+ Hybrid inverter

+1 Frivan for using a cap to reduce the current draw. I have not seen anyone using this most common way China gadgets add resistance in series with the 220V supply when running on AC.

Re: Solar System for Home ( yet another :)

The comparison is with a Solis 4kW grid tied plus the 5kW Axpert as per the video which puts you nearly in the same position as a Goodwe. At least Fluffy does agree with this combination as well. May...

Just to clear up a point I have been thinking about. So much is said about grid tied. This the Multiplus cannot do on it's own without some other hardware.

Re: Small Low-Cost Off-Grid Solar System

Faniedup gets about 5kWh/kW installed PV in Pta. My actual is close to 4kW/kW installed. I found efficiency is perhaps higher than what we see calculated figures indicate.

Re: Small Low-Cost Off-Grid Solar System

One can also look at using 1 more panel (R1 800) for house type fridges instead of spending like R8 000 for a low power inverter fridge. I just did a test over the weekend and found my 210L freezer...

Re: Special Solis 4kW grid tied & RHI hybrid

No this inverter is a gried tied and can only work when you have grid power. It generates 220V AC to reduce the power used from the grid from your solar panels.

Refer to my 2c in your placement.

No I am running a small 1.5kW which is just above my average base load during the day. Day consumption is provided by PV. My back up is purely for LS and I don't cycle my batteries in the evening.

Special Solis 4kW grid tied & RHI hybrid

I stumbled on the web weable.co.za where a 4kW dual MPPT 4G mini is selling for R5319.

    Re: 12v Warm blanket

Not inefficient as it is what the 2 sides of a blanket will use. Yes it can only be on the 220V side for 132W. On preheat our blanket uses 144W for both sides. This drops to 80W for both sides on...
