Freelander 2 also stays on the same setting regardless of how long the car's been off.

    Re: Selling FL2 for parts

You need to deregister the vehicle and then you can take it to a scrap yard and see what they'll give you for it. https://www.carzar.co.za/all-you-need-to-know-about-scrapping-a-motor-vehicle/ Not...

    Re: Fronius Inverters

I believe this is not true for a Multiplus with a frequency shift capable grid tied inverter (eg Fronius or Solis) connected on its output side (AC-Coupled). The only caveat is that you can't have a...

    Re: Volvo XC60: Review

Just last weekend I had to do a trip with 2x 3m lengths of aluminium solar panel roof rails in my FL2. They had to stick out through the sunroof!

Re: Looking for a capable everyday 4x4/Softroader

I bought my FL2 SD4 with 100000km and it had reasonably new Yokohama Geolanders on. Now I've done 50k more and they still look good for at least 10k more.

It's also not that heavy on fuel,...

Re: The most reliable brand of car is:

According to this I must be the dumbest car buyer alive. I'm driving a FL2 SD4 at the moment at 150k km, bought with 100k on the clock. In 50k km I've not had a single problem. My previous car was a...

Re: Impressed with China Pure Sine Wave Inverter

I was following this thread closely as I was planning on building myself a backup system. In the end I found a 2nd hand Axpert 3kVA 24v for R4000, which includes an 1800W MPPT and 30A AC charger. So...

    Re: Home solar setup advise

No it's not. It can blend AC power from the grid with inverted power from the battery to maximise self-consumption. This feature is called PowerAssist. It's more like a GoodWe without a MPPT.

    Re: Home solar setup advise

The Multiplus II can already function in grid tied mode (with backup) so if you want to add panels you'd just add a MPPT charge controller like the SmartSolar. This would make more sense than adding...

Re: My R4k loadshedding TV solution

I also vote going the laptop route. If loadshedding gets worse and you run out of UPS power you can still go much longer on the internal battery. It really is much more efficient than a desktop PC...

    Re: Home solar setup advise

The Axpert is not on the CoCT list. If you want to use it you can use it only as a backup inverter, you can't connect the grid to it.

As I understand it, the way the King works in its "grid tied"...

    Re: Tesla Pwerwall 2

    Re: Tesla Pwerwall 2

    4 x Pylontech 3.5kWh + Goodwe inverter = R110k. Add a battery rack and cables and you're up to 115k.

It is more expensive but it will be dead simple to operate and the UI and apps will work...

Re: Looking for Loadshedding Solution - 5 hours

This is wrong. The 24V system will have a lower current draw for equivalent load and therefore lower resistive losses.

Getting 9l/100km in Fuelly on my SD4, trip computer says 8.6. This is mixed with a bit of bumper to bumper commute 60 minutes a week. Yokohama Geolander A/T tyres with 50000km on them.

    Re: Solar Geyser

Grid tied with a backup gas geyser may still be the cheapest. Remember that you're not just using the PV for heating water, you can save money elsewhere too on things like pumps and aircons.
  35. Re: Fridge not running on generator, invertors but only on grid

Just resurrecting this thread. I have the same Bosch fridge/freezer and our power has been off since Thursday 8PM, so going on 40h with no power now. All I have for backup is a 950W Ryobi 2 stroke...
