Very kind offer Sir. Decided to bail on the car as there are time constraints on having her ready unfortunately.

Spoke to them, seems like it is going to be a mission, have to try and get parts on e-bay, or the dealers.

    Peugeot 404

Is there still someone who can service them in the Western Cape and can one still find parts for them? The one I want to look at seems to have some braking issues.

    Considering buying one for a...
  4. Re: Discovery 2 V8 vs. TD5: The fuel consumption issue..

Biltong your point #2 is wrong smaller tires will seem to give better consumption as the ODO will show that you have traveled further and at a higher speed than actual whilst larger tires will show...

Re: Electric motor into Defender conversions

A Series landy would be nice.

The brake booster, aircon pump and power steering will be a challenge on a Defender. That is without mentioning controlling the motor.

    Re: Recovery hooks for Defenders

Have you considered uprating you bashplate fixing arm so that it becomes a recovery point, by letting pass through the bashplate?

It saves on having to fit to separate units.

Re: This is getting out of hand

He is selling the mirrors with a series spacer between them.

The older vehicles are not always on the system lists and they are then forced to choose a newer model.

Re: Range Rover Classic Rear Diff

None of the indies seem to have Salisbury diffs with discs in stock, and want an arm and leg for them with the conversion.

How much needs to be done to fit the Disco2 diff in the classic?

How does the disco 2 diff compare to the Salisbury strength wise, and would it be an easier install seeing that it has disc brakes already?

Re: Range Rover Classic Rear Diff

Those ARB's are definitely above the budget. Unless there is a reasonably priced second hand unit available.

Any thoughts on a Detroit? I have heard 100"wheel base is on the edge recommended.

    Range Rover Classic Rear Diff

My Rangies' rear diff blew up over the weekend after some abuse. There is an hole through the pumpkin and no drive to the wheels.

What are the options? Would like an upgrade as that diff is weak,...

Re: Discovery 1 V8 Fuel Consumption

Sadly I get less than that if I drive like I want to.:-[

The short distance might also play a part as the fuel mixture is richer when the engine is cold.

Defender Re: Defender 3.5 V8 - repair or replace engine?

The block is the same, but the air filter, radiator, Alternator and Aircon pump all needs replacing/mods.

Defender Re: Defender 3.5 V8 - repair or replace engine?

The Honda of the same era pushed out a whopping 22kW! ;D

Hell my wife's Jazz does not feel like it has improved much on those figures, consumption marginally better though!

That is a 96kW engine unfortunately.

Had the same issue in my Rangie but changed for a 3.9l V8 at least that one is 137kW standard.

Engine cost 12k, but unfortunately did not realize that the...
