    Re: Tyre pressure monitoring system

I don't know, but all I can say is that I had 2 punctures already this week and the system caught both. The last one, I started the car to drive home from work and the pressure was 1 bar. I inflated...

Completely at the other end of the spectrum... I ordered this one on Takealot - actually bought two of them!

Yes :-) it was a really amazing car.

Do you still have it? A couple of pics would make my dad's heart happy :-)

    Sorry OP for the hijack.

    Re: VG30 - Advice please

All I can say is I never sorted mine out and just lived with it. My money is on the idle air control valve, but I don't think it relies on vacuum at all? (Only electric).

    I think all the VG30s...

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

I do remember that story from elsewhere on this forum!

I've been meaning for ages to measure the belt size needed to bypass the pump (have already got a spare to bypass the alternator). I suppose...

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

@jfh the problem these days is the quality of the parts that you buy for the ancillaries. This is becoming a bigger and bigger problem - so the same solutions that worked for a 300 Tdi ten years ago...

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

No, the alternator failures were in the past and nothing to do with the current power steering pump flange failure. The power steering failure was due to a cracked flange that I inherited when buying...

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

Those of you who watch my every movement, will know that I replaced the power steering pump with a new Britpart unit. This thread is not over though - not by any means.

The problem is that my new...

Re: Discovery 1 Power steering pump flange

I ended up replacing the whole pump today, with a Britpart unit sold by LP4A. A bit of a bugger to do the job on a fully assembled Disco, but no hassles.

Does anyone want the old pump? (fully...

    Re: '98 3000 V6 Hardbody D/C

Congratulations on your purchase. They are indeed great cars. I put almost 100 000 km trouble-free on a '95 Nissan Sani passed on to me by my dad.

(sold it at about 280 000 km - it cracked one of...

Re: Discovery 1 Power steering pump flange

Thanks @jfh and @clivemd for the useful info. Much appreciated.

So it looks like it will be an aftermarket pump for now. Then I'll get my ducks in a row and start doing conversions perhaps in...

Discovery 1 Power steering pump flange

Has anyone successfully replaced the power steering pump flange? As in getting that bolt loose, removing the flange an installing another one.

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

So... here's my understanding then. The pump pumps. When the box isn't working, pressure is low since the flow rate through the box is high. When you turn the wheel, the box works, thereby reducing...

Discovery 1 Re: Fugard's electric power steering mod thread

I've been told that there are a few manufacturers that used them. Got a couple of quotes from scrapyards, ranging from R2.5k to 5k.

Thanks for the tip. I wonder if Goldwagen doesn't sell a new...

  23. Discovery 1 Disco 1 (300 Tdi) aircon - when modifying from EDC

My Disco 1 300 Tdi originally had EDC. One of the previous owners or his mechanic replaced the EDC with a "normal" mechanical system - replaced injection pump, added throttle cable, etc. Mostly they...

Re: What have you done with your Discovery today?

Re: 300 Tdi scratched cylinder head busy failing

Good point about the valve recession. As far as I can see, if this is in spec, the valve will still travel the same distance down when opening, hence no adjustment to piston protrusion would be...
