Excellent combination. I had a 5D2 which I later sold - really miss it with that 400mm lens. Thanks for posting!

Are you going to post a trip report in the main Kgalagadi thread?

And it will be much drier and dustier this year...(Nambia is in the midst of the worst drought for 100 years.)

We had 50C+ mid-September - October two years ago.

    Re: N. Cape flower season

Cool in the Northern Cape flower areas at night and in the morning. Calvinia is anything between 0C and -2C next week at night and in the mornings. My electric blanket is packed for night time!...
  8. Re: Keeping camping fridge/ freezer going at Rooiputs & Polentswa

Two 150W panels for the fridges.
Some use less but I would not recommend it.
Game drives won't help much. Make sure your controller can handle the additional Amps if you decide to add panels.

    Re: To Terios, or not

Just a bit of caution needed on parts available locally. Avanza parts are not always an automatic fit. You can order from Japan. which takes a couple of weeks.
  14. Re: Jimny damage on roof where the roof rack fits on to the roof

Off to Kgalagadi on our annual trip there on Monday with some 70kg on the rack as usual......

I hear racks can break off due to the severe corrugations there - no problems with mine since 2011. ...

Heard from Nieuwoudtsville this morning flowers looking good should last for another two weeks provided weather holds and there is no hot wind.

The hot line is a good call. Conditions change so fast with one area finishing flowering while another comes into bloom. They send out a daily email report as well - you can subscribe on their site....

FR told me 80kg - moving.
I used the original Suzuki holes for the old roof bars - we did not drill any new. I wonder if this is why I have not had any hassles?
