    How would that help them?
  2. Re: FS : 1982 Merc 200 W123, 1 Owner LOW LOW Miles!!!

Petri's Merc is a fair deal if its in excellent running order which I'm assuming it is.

I see a good few beautiful examples in Cape Town driven by younger people, they are now desirable vehicles...
  3. Re: FS : 1982 Merc 200 W123, 1 Owner LOW LOW Miles!!!

That deal does seem too good to be true but the Gumtree profile is 11yrs old which does point to it not being a scam. The scam might just be that the guy has the car but it's condition isn't as seen...

Re: Camping coffee: share your preferred way

I've tried numerous different methods but always come back to the aeropress for the taste and simplicity.

One thing to remember with the popular Jetboil models is from what I have read they are...

How much did the whole job to sort the mess out cost and did the guys that damaged the loom honour their promise to cover the cost?
  7. Re: Ford very finnicky over petrol - 2nd engine replacement imminent.

Sounds something like the VAG 1.4Tsi engines that also had piston damage as a result of pre-ignition, the engines were not designed correctly for Sa fuel or something to that effect. VAG also left...

Re: Changing of tyres, by Swambo

After using it I've never had issues with balancing nor have the tyre places complained about repairing the puncture that necessitated using it.

I have heard the rumour about it destroying tyres...

Re: Changing of tyres, by Swambo

This stuff works great, I always have 2 in my vehicle, just make sure the size you get matches the tyre capacity.

Why would using a can of tyre inflator damage a tyre?

    It makes a mess if...

    Re: Towing in 4th

That gearbox would probably have a torque converter, I wonder if locking it in 5th could potentially overheat the torque converter and damage it if you drive it too hard with a heavy trailer?

Re: 2012 Pathfinder heater matrix stuffed

Well worth the schlep of importing then, the local agents would have probably also had to special order the part from Japan and made you wait many weeks if not months for the convenience.

Re: Red 6 in GD6 fading

Red is more prone to fading due to how susceptible the colour is to UV but that will only show after many years parked in the sun. Fading after only 5yrs points to it being some kind of issue with...

Discovery 1 Re: Discovery 1 - Buying advice

I'd spend some time in the market, the V8's especially sell for relative peanuts due to the massive fuel consumption and the current petrol price. If you wait a while(even a few months) you should be...

Was it a semi bribe payment (pay off the locals) or some kind of formal agreement that went sour.

    How old is that model?

Unless it's a current model and quite expensive new it's probably not worth repairing, spares are also neigh impossible to get on many of them.

  34. Re: Is it possible to buy a usable 4x4 with a R40k budget?

R40k might get you a 4x4 but unless you are scoring the bargain of the century it will probably need a good R10-20k to catch up on maintenance and get it back to all round good working order.

Re: Sikaflex alternative for sealing caravan

Butyl tape is apparently one of the best sealants for deck fittings, it never hardens so can remain water tight for decades and also tolerate a larger degree of movement than sealants that cure.
