That really looks good, you can be proud of the result and saving a Disco from scrapping.

As frustrating as it is to be seeing all the bodging, you are going to have a thoroughly sorted Landy at the end of the day.
It will be worth the slog.

Defender Re: LR Mechanic Boot Camp

With the reach of platforms like YouTube, I'd suggest you get kitted out with a toolbox and get stuck into the smaller jobs yourself.

Re: Discovery: What have you done with your Discovery today?

Why did the gearbox eat itself?

One of the oil cooler pipes chafed through and dumped the oil overboard.

Re: Discovery: What have you done with your Discovery today?

    No, it certainly isn't.
I did my DMF and clutch on the Disco and within 6 months the gearbox input pinion ate itself, and it all had to come out again.>:(

Re: Sikaflex alternative for sealing caravan

It's the Acetic Acid that does that, the best way to tell is if it smells like vinegar, don't use it.
A normal Non-Acetic RTV Silicone will be fine, but the Sika and Soudal stuff is the best...

Re: TD5 oil filter relocation kit

Aside from the extra volume of oil, I wonder if a gearbox cooler located above the present one would work for the engine oil?
There is space for it, it would just need to have a way of draining it...

Re: Oracle pulls the plug on Eskom

I love how in the Twitter link, they refer to not having bothered to pay for a contracted service and now facing denial of said service as a "contractual dispute", as if paying was somehow optional.
  29. Re: Long Term Restoration On My 1975 Leyland Classic Mini

For that little bypass pipe, a reliable fix is to cut a length of steam pipe that is a few millimeters longer than the gap and fit it when you put the head onto the engine.
I did that to mine, and...
