Re: Fuse on Vehicle - BH Plug

I see from later posts that the fuse has been installed in the POSITIVE wire after your query.
My question is, why would anyone install a 125 amp fuse in a vehicle installation? By the time that...

    Re: Viscous vs electric fan

With our race cars over the years we have used electric fans with a on / off switch. The fan was switched on for the out lap and switched off on the grid before the start of the race. On the slow...

    Re: Jurgens Xplorer Fan Club

The gas side of the geyser in my Xplorer hadn't worked since I bought it but it worked perfectly with 220v power. I hadn't worried much about it as the places we have been to so far all had 220v...

    Re: Jurgens Xplorer Fan Club

I'm busy making a shelf out of aluminium to attach to the side of our Xplorer. I've mounted the rail that it will clip into on the side of the caravan below the window. I've still got to make up 2...

Re: Andrew St P White, Jurgens en Xplorer

I use my digital infra-red thermometer to measure the hub and tyre temperatures on the Xplorer caravan and Disco tow vehicle at each stop. This is to give me a warning if there is an excessive heat...

    Re: Car Drowning in Remhoogte

From the sticker on the door I'd presume it is a a hire vehicle. Can we get some background on what actually happened.
  9. Re: OEM VW cambelt kit vs Goldwagen or Masterparts

In December I was quoted a few Rand short of R10k for the cambelt change on my VW Touran 2l Tdi by VW in Edenvale. The motor is almost identical to the Amarok 2l 4 cylinder unit. The guys at my...

Re: Disco 3 - unbraked towing capacity

It will most likely be worth your while to get hold of HenriS here on the forum to quote on doing the move for you. He owns SADC Assist and has the correct trailer and kit to do the move safely.

    Re: Painting aluminium (aluminum?)

It is probably okay when there is no flex in the aluminium but it's best to use the stuff the paint manufacturers recommend. I've seen sheets of paint come off the side skins of a Lotus 7 replica...

  13. Sticky: Re: Benton BX-1(M), BX-2, BX-4, BX-5 Multi-Stage Automatic Battery Chargers

I bought extra connector wire harness and fitted one to each vehicle. The section of the harness has the plug that connects to the charger and a lug to connect to the positive and negative terminals...

    Re: Painting aluminium (aluminum?)

As mentioned in the previous post you need to use an etch primer for aluminium that you can get from better auto paint outlets. Clean the surface with thinners and rub it down with Scotch Brite to...
  15. Re: Natural Instincts roll up aluminium slatted table?

I bought one from Outdoor Warehouse about a year back. You can check if they still have stock. We use ours all the time when camping.

Re: Who crosses their safety chains

Re: R350 000.00 What would you buy?

I'd hazard a guess at the common denominator being the person who serviced both vehicles last and the oil they used. If the oil isn't the correct specification or is contaminated the engines will die...

  34. Re: " Castor Correction Welded Washer Mod......??????

Yes as well as eccentric bushes for castor. They as standard in most Porsche suspension designs.
  35. Re: " Castor Correction Welded Washer Mod......??????

I agree, the correct way to do this is to fit eccentric bearing plates to the shocks top mounts. Done this type of mod on a few racecars before.
