    Re: Khutse Campsites

Little shade at either. Molose 1 is closer to the waterhole but I prefer Molose 2, you have a bit of a view of the pan and shade is a little more

Have a look at my video of CKGR campsites...

    Re: Frontrunner RTT review

They don't actually supply the guy ropes, I added those. We had a gust of wind flip the tent closed (luckily we weren't in it). I think it's purely because it's so light

  8. Bush / Rustic camping near Volksrus / Newcastle

    Hi Folks,

Besides 3 Provinces 4x4, can someone recommend bush / rustic camping halfway between JHB and Bivane dam. Closest towns are Volksrus / Newcastle / Ermelo (depending on how you drive)

    Overland trip planning

    Morning Folks!

I made an indoor video as I've been locked down with you as well

This is a very basic overview of how I plan trips (maybe a little too basic for some of you but I've had...

    Re: Makgadikgadi Pans

Yup, like I said, I'm biased as I didn't have a great time at Khumaga. The whole camp and along the river was just filled with livestock, and I'm not talking about 1 or 2 donkeys, literally hundreds...

    Re: Makgadikgadi Pans

Personally I'd skip Khumaga and camp at Baines instead. I'm biased though as I didn't have a great experience at Khumaga (loved Baines)

Definetely do Kubu island if you can as well. From Khumaga...

Re: Do you need to book for CKGR?

    You need to book.

Depending on which camps you want to go to you'll have to book through DWNP and/or Bigfoot tours. As far as I understand they're are not taking bookings for 2021 yet as they're...
  14. Re: T4A Navigator iPhone app any good, it seams outdated?

You can but it also takes some getting used to. I found the way you create a multi-point route a bit strange in the beginning. See attached pics; here's a basic CKGR (North to South) trip. Being T4A...
  15. Re: T4A Navigator iPhone app any good, it seams outdated?

I use the T4A app. I actually prefer it over T4A on the Garmin (as I only have a Nuvi and you loose a lot of detail on that).

The interface is tricky to get use to in the beginning but once you're...

  21. Re: Big 5 area - wild camping 3 hours from Gauteng

    Hi Jurie,

Maybe let's start with what you mean by wild camping; is it camping for self-sufficient self-drive campers in demarcated areas with no facilities, self-drive campers camping in a bush...

    Re: Crossing the Kalahari

Technically yes, though personally I wouldn't advise it. We only saw 3 other vehicles in 12 days so if you get into trouble for whatever reason you could be by yourself for days. At the very least...

For short / close-by trips I completely agree. For a 12 -day CKGR crossing, you're going to need a little more than that... :)
